Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

I also used Sunrise red on my Craftsman boxes, but when I looked for the hammered gray at Home Depot, I did not see it. I hope it has not been discontinued.

Looks great. What colors did you use, and what type of paint. I'm working on another chest and will post pics when finished.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

OK. If you say so. I can usually do or fix anything, it just takes me longer. What has me confused at the moment is getting the overhang of the LP siding figured out. It has to be pretty simple. Can you give me any tips on whether the siding should overhang each door on the sides that...

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

No, I didn't think of take offs. I'm pretty set on building them at this point. Good thought though.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Here are a few pics of what I'm doing. In the first picture you can see how the original doors were constructed. I know, I should be able to copy the doors. Not sure why it's getting the best of me. The next pic shows the opening I cut for the new doors. Third pic is of the level header and...

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Ahh. I did not think of that. Yes, they are being site built. The doors that came on the shed have a 2x4 frame with the 2x4s laying on the flat/3.5" side.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

2" seems like a lot, but you probably know much more than I do if you've built more than one shed door. When you use an inch on each side, do you let the trim hang over the side/edge of the siding to fill the gaps? Thanks.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Hey mike93lx. What is sire? Haven't heard that term. Anyway, I plan to build two 3'-ish doors with the LP overlapping in the middle as a 'stop' if you will. I'm a little gun shy because I built a door and tried to install it before plumbing the studs and leveling the header. I failed to...

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Hmmm, things got plumb out of control in this thread since I posted last. Ha. Here is the situation as it stands now. I have made the two king studs and the two jack studs plumb. The header I made and installed is level, but not parallel to the floor. Before anyone gets all worried about...

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Plumb it is I guess. It seems like this would be easier too. Thanks.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Thanks for the replies. These will be hinged doors. It is a portable building, but is not likely to be moved in my lifetime.

Question about adding 6' door to a shed

Hello, I have a 10x16 shed and I want to put a 6' door in the end/10' wide part. This is a portable building, and if fairly level. The question is: When adding jack and king studs, should I frame them plumb or measure off of adjacent studs to install?

Doesn't the lock have a number on the back? I can't remember.

I just contacted a guy on CL that has a 10 drawer that I would like to buy so I could have two. He said $100.00. The decimal is in the correct place! I said, "No thanks".
