Above 1200 Sq/FT building my BIG PARTY garage

Hey Don, Great to hear the Gas Bash is back. I'm looking forward to a first visit to the BPG. I think you and I corresponded some time back as I was making my way through a few tool restoration projects. I know that you will be busy preparing for the event. I live here in South Corona and would...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Re: Table Lift, DP#15 I've also thought of a few workarounds (everything from cannibalizing a drill press table to using a leadscrew from a metal lathe.) I'll certainly keep the forum up to date on progress. -Jesse

    Craftsman Drill Press

Re: Table Lift, DP#15 Thank you Frank! My drafting skills are very rusty (had a class in middle school in 1985,) so pardon the crude drawings. I've also been playing around in CAD and mocked up the lower collar. If you can help me get dimensions for the call outs on the reference drawings I'm...

Re: Table Lift, DP#15 Hi Frank, Once again thanks for all the great information you've contributed for all of us. I continue my restoration project and though it's going slowly, it's coming along. Once I'm done, I'll post pictures of the before, during and after. I'm also in the process of...

    1950s Craftsman Cabinet Saw Restoration

Hey Subroc, When you mention truing up the flange, are you referring to machining down the faces as per the attached picture or having the bearing races machined to ensure the arbor shaft and bearings have proper alignment through the arbor arm assembly? I haven't pressed out the bearings or...

Thank you Don! I did get your PM but haven't been able to respond as I've been under the 10 post threshold. It's great to be on garage journal. So much good info. It's great to see so many like minded folks who appreciate quality iron of all types. I completely understand the issue of...

Craftsman Floor Model Table Saw 103.24440

Thank you sir! That's a great looking saw on your profile pic. Still have it? Did you have a build thread for your saw?

Thanks Subroc, I think it's a good start. I may at some point grab a Unisaw but want to try these two first. I don't go through a lot of thick hardwoods (but don't want to exclude the possibility at some point.) I started the build thread for the floor model...

Craftsman Floor Model Table Saw 103.24440

Hello all, I'm beginning the process of a workshop build out of my 2 car garage. One of the tools I'll be restoring is a 50's Craftsman Floor Model Table Saw. It was a craigslist find that I paid too much for but I had been searching a while and these are becoming increasingly rare. I've seen...

Thank you Frank! I do hear that is one of the most common issues on old iron. I'm definitely going to invest in the puller and splitter as they are easy to store and won't take up shop space. Will keep you posted on my rebuilds.

Good catch subroc! The cabinet saw is a 103.24440 not 103.23440. The saw is the tool that I think will be the most challenging in restoring just do to the number of parts involved and the weight of the arbor and trunion assemblies. It's also by far the one that's in the most neglected state...

    Craftsman Drill Press

Hi Frank, I have the benchtop model mostly disassembled and the floor model is fully intact. I did pick up a 1/2 HP period correct motor as well for a 3rd press that is in mostly restored condition. That motor is completely apart. I'm going to start paint stripping the bells on it this...

39 LaSalle - Awesome job on the restoration. I'm starting the restoration process on two 100's (a floor model and a benchtop.) I'm interested in your Vari-Slo parts but haven't hit the 10 post threshold yet. Any chance you can reach out to me to work out the details? Thanks, -Jesse Corona, CA
