Here's a milling machine I built awhile back. Works great on hard woods and aluminum , steel I get a lot of chatter so the table needs to be rebuilt with anti backlash nuts a major under taking, I will get around to to it one of these days.

I agree with Blue dog!! I too hate it when people call wanting me to drive out to their homes for free estimates, I usually get them to give me what they want over the phone and I can usually work out a rough estimate.

However you said they put 40k on a 76k house which should have put their mortgage payment at $380 to $400 a month, how can ya get behind on a cheap mortgage...
24x36x12 ran $5500 about 3 years ago for a stick built and that's doing everything myself which includes telling a lie that its only storage and that it needs no electric so I can come back after the final inspection and run my own electric.

I am a home machinist slash tinkerer and I own my own glazing shop(glass,mirrors and shower enclosures) I currently have a 12x20 glass shop and my 12 x 15 workshop at my house, no garage :-(

Well they are ugly however easy to put up and as long as you don't live near the coast in Florida you will be fine. As for cost lets say compared to a stick shop. Building a stick shop can be just about equal in price if you do most of the work yourself.

But be warned you must always do a title search before handing over that check, this will make sure your title is clean and usually runs $150 to $250 to have one done....
