proto or sk for weekend use?

I should have probably specified this, but it's only for cosmetic reasons. I think the chrome on my Proto set is brighter than the SK set I have. I also like the cleaner look of the Proto lettering (although sometimes it isn't as easy to read as the SK). I've never broken a socket from either...

proto or sk for weekend use?

Either one is high quality and you won't be disappointed in either choice. I like the SK ratchet better than the Proto, but I like the Proto sockets better. So I have both, but I also have a wife that doesn't care how much I spend on tools.

What tools do you buy snap-on?

Screwdrivers - even my wife likes them better than all the other ones I have in the house (she doesn't know how much they cost though).

    drill bit set ?

I've also had good luck with Norseman bits purchased from Harry Epstein.

-A Blackhawk obstruction wrench in 11/16 and 3/4 (never use) -A set of gearwrench jumbo size SAE wrenches (bought on clearance, used one wrench one time and gave away the set) -Mixed set of large (15/16 - 1 1/2in) SAE wrenches that I cobbled together and have never used but won't get rid of...

Wife says I have to many ratchets

Last time my wife said something about me having too many ratchets I told her "Well actually I've just about run out of them; I probably need to get more." She just rolled her eyes at me.

    ratchets ?

I currently have 20, but am going to give two of them away, one to my brother in law, and one to my father in law. I imagine I'll keep getting more though :-)

What is the next tool you want to buy?

My list, in no particular order: Replace a bunch of small broken drill bits with decent ones. Most of mine are China made and weren't that great to begin with. Flex head 3/8 ratchet. I don't have one of these and I am trying to decide between Gearwrench and Snap-On. I have talked to people...

    What tool is this?

Thanks everyone! I have had these for years, and every time I saw them I would speculate about what they were for. I never would have guessed they were for lead anchors - thanks again.

    What tool is this?

I have two of these that I have inherited over the years. I assume this is some kind of punch, but I can't figure out what it would be used for.

School me on carbide grit hole saws.

The only thing I have used them for is to drill holes in the bottoms of clay pots for drainage.

Need advice on quality 3/4" concrete bit

If you are using a rotary hammer, I would go with Bosch bits. If you have a hammer drill, then I think that you might have to use a Vermont American bit (am not positive they make a bit that large, but they're the only company I know of that might). Also, if you have a star drill that you can...

who makes the best Phillips screwdrivers for the money?

You can get them from Amazon https://www.flickr.com/photos/119584031@N02/13753681953/ Seems a little higher than I pay locally. They do have a whole set here for a little under $30 though. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002C3XU50/?tag=atomicindus08-20

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

I have never found any cool tools in the road. To date I have found one 8mm socket with peeling chrome, one torn up mastercraft screwdriver that I have in a bag someplace, and one craftsman screwdriver that was pretty decent that I took home. Every time I see something shiny though I keep...

what brought you over to the dark side ?

When I bought a house, I wanted my own tools. I had inherited some that belonged to my Dad, but I also knew I wouldn't want to break them because they have sentimental value. I couldn't figure out why I liked Dad's ratchets (indestro super) better than the current Craftsman offerings. Somehow...
