Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

Alright, since everyone wants to play code lawyer here - yes, I know a feeder isn't a branch circuit, thanks for the lecture. Have I said a sub panel can't be used? My bad if I did. The actual requirement is NEC 680.44 (who wants citing, could simply check internet), which says the spa has to be...

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

@wyliesdiesels NEC Article 680 (Spas & Hot Tubs) says that spa has to be on a dedicated branch circuit. That means the breaker feeds only the spa, without anything else tied in. Even a small loaded garage circuit would be count as a shared feeder and not dedicated. Manufacturer also call this...

    Refrigerator/Freezer Issue

Yeah, that's good idea, anything to knock out slime or mold in the line will help keep it clear longer. Just make sure to flush with plenty of hot water after so no cleaner smell drifts into the fridge

    TS210 or Rust Bullet?

For light duty a good sealer like TS210 will do fine, but if you want max durability against jacks, salt and oil go with Rust Bullet, it is more work up front but tougher long term

    Refrigerator/Freezer Issue

Yeah, they'll freeze up if the drain tube stays damp or the little rubber check valve gets dunked. Cleaning it usually solves it, but if ice keeps forming you can run a bit of weed-whacker line through the tube or even slide in a copper wire down from the heater so it transfers a little heat...

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

If that is the case then you are already set up right. As long as that 60A GFCI is truly a homer just for he tub with its own disconnect, you're good to go :D

Timer for whole circuit of outlets in a room.

Good point sir, lightning/motor contractors are built heavier for that kind of duty. Definite-purpose ones will work, but if you want max lifespan with lots of on/off cycles, a proper lightning contactor is the better call.

Yeah, dedicated means its own homer from the main panel on a GFCI. Feeding it off that old 60A garage line still isn't the same, you would be splitting a feeder. Code wants the spa on its own circuit with nothing else hanging off it, even if the garage only pulls a little

Timer for whole circuit of outlets in a room.

Yeah, use a relay to do the heavy lifting and a nice wall control to trigger it. Here is the setup: - mount a 20A circuit to a small basement panel - install a 30-40A definite-purpose contractor (120V COIL) - Upstairs, use any good-looking in wall timer or some smart switch (most of them are...

    4 pin trailer connector

Easiest way to snip it off and put on a new 4-pin flat connector. They are pretty cheap and easier than trying to rebuild the old one. Match wire colors and crimp/heat - shrink the new ends and good to go :)

Need some advice on a Swim Spa installation

Friend got a similar spa setup and he had to run a dedicated 60A GFCI line just for it. You really don't want to share that old garage feed, code calls for its own circuit and shutoff :/

    Refrigerator/Freezer Issue

Drain's clogged - melt water can not reach the pan so it pools and leaks. I would clear the drain hole under the evaporator with hot water or a wire. Not a refrigerant issue :D

    GearWrench ratchets - 90T or 120XP?

I would go with the 120XP if you can swing the price. The pro-series XP versions tend to have thicker handles, beefier internals and are just more durable. They also usually have better tooth count, so ratcheting would be smoother. If you're tight with money or using the ratchet occasionally...

    Challenger Brand Scratch Awl

That "Challenger" mark is not the same one Penens/Proto used. This style with the sweeping "C" underlining the word shows up on older hand tools from the early 1900s, usually wood-handled screwdrivers and brace bits. They were more of a hardware/contract brand, not big industrial line like...
