    who here has tube heaters?

I installed a 20 foot 45k{2 stage heat 28k low and 45 high} tube in my 600m sq ft well insulated 3 car garage and kept it heated all winter at 55. My whole home heating bill was 400 bucks in january and February. Normally my electric/gas bill goes as high as 290 in those months before the garage...

    My IR SS5 air compressor

Looks like a trick setup but I would have probably just bought an 80 gal Champion and called it done. All those add-ons and you probably could have been a few hundred from a top of the line compressor. The Taiwan pumps from Ingersoll-Rand are known for high failure, high heat, and high RPM's...

    Matco tools?

Go snap-on, in the long run I think they are cheaper not only up front (matco stuff is crazy expensive, more expensive than snap-on IMO) but also if for what ever reason you would plan to sell or trade your tools I think SO commands more money on the used end.

Universal Snap-On go to wire strippers/crimpers

The top pair of SO strippers I believe can strip a smaller wire than the lower pair. I own both and use one or the other in different situations. So get both and be done, just be ready to pony up probably 85-90 bucks, good luck.

    Difference in Snap-On torx sockets?

Get the gold ones...... They cost more but are there the ''heavy duty'' line. I don't want my torx to break off in the bolt if I can help it, so I own the gold ones, still break them but no where near as often as my old Corncobb ones!

    Buying American anytime I can...

I have really had a strong desire to purchase american made tools since the recession hit. I was fortunate enough to keep my job through all that mess, we are now very steady and I owe nothing to any tool dealer. I feel like we need to support one another here and keep people making things in...

    Spray foam insulation

I second that...... stuff is near permanent, if an electrician came in to give job quote and saw the foam he is probably going to quote you higher. I had the stuff sprayed in my floor joist box sills in my basement and the quote says 3-4'' sprayed but I can say the stuff is pushing really 5-6''...

    Need a 18V impact wrench

So I see not one person mentioned the Makita 1/2'' impact, I purchased mine 2 years ago off of amazon for an amazing price of 91 bucks! It was a cyber friday deal or something was watching the price and it came down to 101 bucks and if you paid with a mastercard they would knock 10 more off just...

Radiant tube price and Right size?

I just installed a 30' tube heater in my garage {2 stage 40K unit} and I did everything my self and I was at about 1600.00 for all the materials and the heater itself. Not sure how long your gas run was but mine was just over 60', borrowed a friends pipe threader and was able to run over 60' of...

Went in Sears today for the first time in a long time

The only thing I have bought from Sears in the last few years was a pair of Knipex pliers on sale, or Gladiator products on sale...... Hand tools from that place are a thing of the past IMHO, tool truck is just about the only place left to buy and get warranty coverage. Too bad many of them are...

    Tube heater buzzing when off

I just don't want the humming sound to turn into an ugly electric bill because the unit is pulling power at all times. My thought would be that once the heater has satisfied the thermostat it would shut off and be completely quiet, but maybe not. Thats why I'm asking to see if anyone has the...

    Tube heater buzzing when off

The heater does have a 24V power to the thermostat, is that what your talking about? Let me clarify that it is a faint hum, hum I guess is a better description of the sound. I can hear it 10 feet away, not loud but just enough for me to hear it, my ear is now tuned into the sound so I can pick...
