I'm in the process of switching over some junk lisle torx socket drivers over to SO. I just got a bit set that goes up to T40. So now I want to get the larger sizes in the chrome 3/8" driver sockets. I already have a t50. When I was on ebay looking I found some buy it now ones for 10 bux with free shipping and then I seen others that people are bidding on between $10-20 plus shipping. I don't get it. Is there is difference in models of some of them which makes some more admirable or stronger/better. Granted I know there are the gold ones and black bit ones but the ones that I was lookin at were all the black ones.

Get the gold ones...... They cost more but are there the ''heavy duty'' line. I don't want my torx to break off in the bolt if I can help it, so I own the gold ones, still break them but no where near as often as my old Corncobb ones!

That's ebay for you. People tend to pay more for the same thing when they get into a bidding "war".

Also I noticed some sockets look to have a little set screw on the side where u can remove the bit from the socket driver itself and some don't. Can u still remove the bit or does the entire socket/bit get warrantied or what if there's problems

One thing I noticed is most Torx sets have T55 in 3/8 drive. IMO, anything above T50 should be 1/2 drive. My SK T55 is 3/8 drive and I always have a hard time breaking T55 bolts loose with 3/8" ratchet. Yeah, I could have just used 1/2 ratchet with 3/8 adapter but it is a nuisance. Snappy have T55 available in both 3/8 and 1/2 drive, and I plan to upgrade someday soon.

Does Torx Plus still not come in the gold color?
Do a lot of people use regular Torx in Torx Plus fasteners?

As far as I know of, Snap-on only offer HD gold version for the regular Torx fasteners.

You could use a regular Torx bit in a Torx Plus fastener if you want to, but only with a small torque. Otherwise, it would be strongly advised to use Torx Plus bit. Once you strip a Torx/Torx Plus fastener, your day is going downhill.

Use the right tool for the job!
