welding stainless with flux core wire

Right on. Definitely won't be doing anything super critical but I'd also like to not have to take an exhaust off and fix cracks later on.

welding stainless with flux core wire

I was going to use this Blue Demon stuff. I know you can just use regular ole steel wire but base metal will be SS for that bling factor so may as well use the SS wire.

welding stainless with flux core wire

At the moment, I was looking at fabricating a custom header and y-pipe. No good aftermarket alternatives available. I was thinking of mocking one up and tack welding it, then take it to a real welder to finish up but further down the line probably a full exhaust. Maybe for other vehicles as well...

welding stainless with flux core wire

It's recommended to backpurge when welding stainless with gas to limit impurities from contaminating the weld. If using a flux core wire should you also backpurge?

Bought an Icon ratchet from HF!

Was at HF buying gloves and saw that my store was carrying the Icon stubby 3/8 ratchet. Since I was without one, I figured it was a perfect opportunity to pick one up and try out the Icon line. Unboxing. The packaging is very premium. Really nice. It also came with branded wipe cloth to keep...

where to buy 3/8 drive metric semi-deep swivel socket set

Thanks for the recommendations all! A wobble extension didn't work so I went to HD to get a cheap spare socket to cut up and amazingly found a Gearwrench semi-deep socket set! Just enough room with a swivel to get that sucker out.

where to buy 3/8 drive metric semi-deep swivel socket set

Need to get at a stud and nut in a tight spot that requires me to come in with a swivel. Stud prevents a short socket to fit on and not enough room for a deep socket with a swivel. Just a regular chrome set, I'm not sure an impact set would fit. TIA!

    Shoes for concrete floor

Would like to second the suggestion for a hiking boot. They're literally made to be walked in all day and there are tons of styles available with plenty of choices out there that are a cross between a boot and a sneaker. Obviously, not many (if at all) have a steel toe though (if its needed).

    Crescent 1000volt rated tools

Love hearing stories and perspectives like these. I would've never thought people were working on alive wiring! :shocking:

    Tools from the old world

The HF torque wrenches work just as well as a SnapOn. Both require calibration and both hold calibration just fine. I think I've actually had to adjust mine a only few times over a decade but I've done the same with my Snappy ones. The SnapOn has a better finish and the ratcheting mechanism is...

Keeping both corded and cordless of some tools?

Toss the duplicates in a tote. Come spring time if they're still in there then sell them off. I'm not obsessive about cord cutting since what corded ones I have tend to be high power/long duration tools or have a table or platform for it so not really duplicating tasks with a cordless, more...

Must have tools for calibrating your tools?

Great link! And I'm not really looking at anything in particular at the moment, just wondering what people do. There's the book way which can take a whole lot of time and then there are easy shortcuts which gets most people close enough for everyday work. Just wanted to hear what people use.

Must have tools for calibrating your tools?

What must have tools do you have that are must haves for calibrating your tools? What tool do you use them with and for what function? I.e. squares, machinist blocks, dial calipers, etc

    AC Delco G12 cordless ratchets?

Anybody have any experience with these? I was looking at a Milwaukee M12 1/4 ratchet but then the AC Delco popped up on my feed. I see they have combos with 2 batteries and a 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet for $150 or so. Their parts are generally decent stuff, are their tools any good?
