Firing up the BR800 to clear off the 6-8” of white powder we got in the past 24 hours.

Then google our Bosch dishwasher to tackle the pump.

Then play with my new Hcalory Diesel heater. This one is to be one of the better ones with improved combustion chamber, app controls and altitude adjustment.

Worked on the outdoor sign.
Cleaned up from the last few projects.

Moved all my airbrush supplies to an unused toolbox from the 3 other places everything was dispursed in.

I have room for more stuff now :)

Ther was a time when all my tools would fit into one of those (or just-about). Poor as could be and no $ for anything w/4 wheels worth spending my slim $ on. I have one of the Crown-top Craftsman 2-drawers like that, which I still have filled w/seldom-needed tools I once used much-more.

I suppose not technically the "garage", but in my basement shop area since it's warm and better suited for the project. I'm attending a sportsman dinner at my church, and wanted to display my mule deer. I finally took time to add a basic hanger for the euro mount. A fun little project to pass a few minutes this morning!

Don't mind the mess, its a work in progress! (Sooner than later the wall behind my bench is getting removed. 😳)

This used to be my travel kit. I'd fill it with tools anytime the MIL asked me to come help with a project at her house. The projects always changed, so I always needed different tools.

Here's the progress on the sign. Yes, I'm fiberglassing it with leftover kayak materials.

@rharman Well you asked. 2017 was requested by 2 folks, I priced at much less than market, higher than Carvana buyout and both backed out. Headed to marketplace soon as I don't need 2.

Just completed a 4 day drive of 2600 miles in the 2025 Ridgeline. Impressions, adaptive cruise control in traffic is helpful, when on a moderately traveled interstate, its a pia-no notification that speed is slowing, so you get stuck slowing down, instead of changing lanes. Mileage--using regular 87octane fuel (which is not the most mpg fuel), best going south @78mph 25.2, worst ~22, going north @78/80mph 19.4, some headwind, best was 24.2. Trip average was 22.6, not great but okay. Rides like 2017, comfortable, but I'm struggling to like all the driver assist features. Couple things I'm trying to determine-google helped some, when the cruise slows the truck do the brake lights come on-google says only if brake applied, second is can I accelerate when cruise slows automatically or does this just create more engine-transmission braking. This I need to research. Overall not much different between models.
CarMax offered me $1000. Carvana $500. For my 2002 Volvo C70 convertible. I'm the original owner. No accidents. Essentially spotless inside and out. Problem was I had a manual transmission. Not many people like them. Sold it for $3,800.
My new Kia EV6 has all the level 2 driver controls. I admit they were a little weird at first. Now, they make driving long distances much less stressful. If I'm coming up on a vehicle, I just turn my signal on. The car changes lanes as long it is clear. I just have to turn the signal back off. It won't change lanes if there is another vehicle next to me.
Stepping on the accelerator will override the adaptive cruise. Take my foot off and it will go back to the set speed.
The only problem is I have to paint eyes on my lids so the camera thinks I'm awake.😛

I did absolutely diddly-squat in the shop today. Instead, I finished moving out of my old office--not really the last minute, as I still have nine hours to go on this month's rent!

Dusted (with leaf blower), wiped down surfaces with wet sponge (PITA as the bathroom is locked), vacuumed. It's probably nicer than when I moved in. Left the key in the dropbox.

$200/month to spend on fun stuff!

That mileage doesn't sound bad to me. Of course, out here, the A/C is on most of the time. I do use ECO mode when possible. Got 27-29mpg on a couple of long road trips - even with A/C and going up Grapevine hill.

I've used the adaptive cruise on my 2019 on a couple of long trips up Hwy 99 - it's pretty straight. I liked it - it does make it a more enjoyable ride. Just push the pedal to override the slowdown if needed. What I didn't like is the way it resumes speed after a slowdown. It really floors it - much more than you normally would manually.

Around here, even on the freeway, I don't use it unless it's a really long open stretch. I'd rather be in control.

Front struts, rotors, pads, sway bar links, oil change and air filters on my moms RX350. Everything went as good as expected, those sway bar links though... Allen key to hold them still and turn the 17mm nut off... tested me. It's done.

Boat maintenance tomorrow on the jack plate.

I still have my first Craftsman tool box, bought around 1969 or 70 in Chicago, as a set full of tools. Now it's used for smaller odds and ends but I still have most of the original tools.BSA Craftsman toolbox.jpg

I lost power to the overhead ceiling outlet that the HF lights in the shop office are plugged into last week, so I rigged up an extension chord to a wall outlet and plugged in one of the lights to use while I checked all the breakers, test the switch itself, searched the attic for a random connection, etc. Nothing, no power to the switch. Gave up, too cold in the garage/shop.

Fast forward to today, nice 50 degrees and sunny, opened the garage door and while fumbling around I noticed another switch on the right side of the garage door that I'd forgotten about because its partially hidden by the tall CASTROL OIL cabinet I built last year.

LIGHTBULB goes off in my head....Yep its connected to the switch on the back wall of the shop office. Flipped the switch and TA DA!!! the other overhead light comes on in the office. I'm such a dumb ***....

I'm confused. You make it sound like the switches are wired in series. Is that correct?

I'm curious, just what is the right tote for these? I have found two red ones, including one that looks quite similar to yours. The box as it was given to me by Granddad has a gray tote, but the catalogs from the same time as he received the box as an anniversary gift in the '60s all show a tote like yours in the box.

Me too. There are two switches, one by the garage wall and another by the entrance to the house on the far wall. There is a duplex receptical located in the ceiling between them (just so happens it is in the shop office ceiling where the entrance to the house is located) I don't know how its wired, but with the switch off by the garage door, the switch on the far wall does not get power so I could not turn on the HF lights that are plug into that duplex receptical. This ceiling receptical was added some time ago by someone other then me or the previous owners, my in-laws. Interesting thing is to turn the lights ON you have to switch the toggle down and up to turn OFF.

Kitchen door side of the house, I have stuff stored out there including another Samurai.

Last couple of days, files everywhere.

Why?

I didn't notice any bad odors, but we get lots of feral cats around and our two are indoor only, so maybe they started using that space (in the leaves I'm still cleaning up) as a litter box? I didn't notice an odor there however.

I started detail raking leaves and that's when I finally got a whiff. A dead animal whiff... I look and don't find anything obvious but the odor is getting stronger...

I started pulling leaves from under the Samurai, and hit fur. I'm expecting a cat...

Nope - -dead raccoon. got a 4 tine raking fork and dragged it out and got it into the green bin and started getting leaves and fur residue" scraped and racked up. Smell wasn't pleasant but the carcass was not badly rotted or liquefied.

Oldest daughter (35...) comes out and wants the head for the skull... :wtf: (she does have a skull & bone collection)

Told her she was on her own for that, but she couldn't manage it (loppers do not cut fur well) So I wound up getting a knife with a back saw and finishing it; actually didn't need the saw though. She has it soaking now. 🤦‍♂️

Ran all my DeWalt batteries (18V & 20V) through the chargers. For some reason, I appear to be missing some 18V ones. Unless I tossed them due to age - don't recall it though. The search will continue at some point - I use the 20V on an adapter sled for the older tools 98% of the time.

If you decide to do something different, I'll take the box and tray off your hands. That is the exact box I bought my first tools in as a Sears tool set combo in 1962

Used the new lighted grabber and retrieved the old fuel filter from the ford tractor gas tank. Fired up the tractor to consume as much fuel as possible before removing carb. Set about removing carb, tight spaces, but not like todays stuff. Carb off partially dismantled, previous owner said he had rebuilt it, I think it may have received a couple new gaskets and parts, but still needs more love. Kept staring at the carb, not seeing much that would indicate the issue. Noticed the fuel separator had not been touched. Set about removing. Then disassembled the fuel separator, noted that the gasket in the separator had deformed and could have been interrupting the flow to the carb. The rubber/plastic gasket looked like it was filling the void space needed for the fuel to flow freely to the carb. Will put all in the ultrasonic and get it cleaned up then reassemble. Need to find a new choke cable or figure out how to repair this one.

Turned my attention to a failed garge door opener keypad. Had replacement delivered, removed the old nonfunctional unit. Programmed and replaced with new keypad. Worked and fixed. Looked at the failure mode for the old keypad, another, freaking Duracell leaking, what ****! No more Duracells for me.

My niece got accepted to the bioengineering program at my Alma mater. My sister asked if I could make her a yard sign.

I have some leftover fiberglass and epoxy from the kayak build. I figure I could make something to last through a south Texas summer.

Tonight I got the logo traced out using the Pico projector on the shop laptop. Tomorrow morning I'll cut it out and weatherproof it.

2529.jpg
Whoop! That’s my Alma Mater and my major. I never used the degree for anything related to biomedical devices, but I have used the engineering principles I learned in my career.

My box has a grey tote, same as the box, and is original. I have another from a garage sale, also with grey tote (also crowntop).
