I have NO clue!

This is the point I reach where I don't know WHERE to look.

I'm hoping maybe you, or @RTM or somebody else has the magic "Google-fu" skills to find that missing link.

The tools are identical, as can clearly be seen in the above examples. (I need to run a search on ebay and find more examples.)

I am hoping that Don can come up with a gray-handled spinner and/or nut driver - the Giller BLUE handled spinners look (to me, anyway) exactly like those gray handles on the "Century" nut drivers I posted just above. (Shape/size/fluting)

Understandably, this is far outside the scope of your interest, but being able to find anything about Giller or Century might possibly answer some questions. Thus far we have virtually nothing on either company.

Okay... let me throw this into the mix as well:

"CTCO" - Century Tool Company

Feeler gauge with Philadelphia, PA location stamped on unit.

Triangle owning both would explain it, but I did some conglomeration studies a couple years ago and I don't have any record of the 60's-80's Giller-Hydro Metals-Wallace Murray-NHT enterprise being anywhere near the Triangle enterprise. Probably just third party production, I would guess Giller for Century.

^ I just looked through both folders and I have NO clue where I found the "1973 Triangle" connection. Another one of those "middle-of-the-night" deals.

Giller for Century is most certainly plausible. We know for sure Giller had manufacturing facilities in Texas, but the "Century" address I finally dug up (Route One and Hulmelville Ave., Penndel, PA 19047) doesn't appear from Google "street view" to be a location that housed any sort of manufacturing facility.

I think it might be reasonable to exclude the "Triangle" connection because the examples we have appear to be much older than 1973.

Brought this Audi roll-up home from the flea market this morning. I don't have an Audi, and I have never owned an Audi, but too unusual to leave behind. A little dirty, but intact, supple, and in good condition. No pockets or holders inside, just a single pouch with enough space for some wrenches and screwdrivers. When did they start hitting these shores? Given the leatherette and the cloth drawstrings, it can't be too modern. Without the "Audi" stamping I would've dated it to no later than the 60's, but I am guessing it's early 70's perhaps.

Picked up a couple roll-ups at the flea market today. Both shades of OD green. The canvas one with the black trim and the belt strap had some Vlchek tools in it. See Vlchek thread here for more. The other one, which appears to be made of felt or wool, believe it or not, or something much softer yet also thicker and fuzzier weave than duck, had some miscellaneous wrenches in it. They were both filthy (Pics 1 -4), but cleaned up well (Pics 5-9) on manual gentle cycle in a bucket of warm soapy water.

Indeed!

If only for a sense of completion, thanks to Don, one WWII motor vehicle mechanics' ignition wrench in a 9/32" (15* angle) x 5/16" (60* angle) configuration that was lying around in a garage or a basement somewhere before he acquired it has now been paired up with its 9/32" (60* angle) x 5/16" (15* angle) configuration brother inside the partial 41-W-900 ignition set, in original leatherette pouch, that was lying around in a garage or basement in NJ and taken to one of my flea markets a few years ago! :)

I even like the big old serif "3" stamps on it. 3rd platoon. Mechanic #3. Doesn't matter. I like it!

After searching for some years, my final missing wrench arrived today from a tool buddy in Tennessee. After completing the rare set I moved it into my MVMTS (early war Motor Vehicle Mechanic’s Tool Set).

I can’t decide whether to leave this as is or remove the staples and insert the paddle bits into the unused roll inside the package. I’m not a fan of the staples. I figure that it must be vintage since it is Irwin marked “Made in USA”. It does have a zip code so definitely post 1963 IMG_7165.jpeg

Whenever I see instructions on tools saying to wear safety glasses, I assume it was made "recently." It drives me nuts when they feel the need to print it on hammer heads and such. (Not so much on a little plastic pouch). Mr. Google says they started being labeled that way in the eighties.

Not an original, but I use a vintage military pouch for my metric nutdrivers and love the compact size and fit.

That's a great idea (y)
I need to find a couple of those.....

But darn it......my chances of finding something like that took a big hit as the only Surplus Store around here went out of biz several years ago

Thank-you.
The national stock number can be seen in my second picture in that post. Its 5120-542-5799. Mine originally carried Amalite brand nutdrivers whose name is also printed on the roll. But other manufacturers were contracted at times like Bridgeport, Spintight, Ivy Tool Co, Century, etc. These sets show up on ebay occasionally with the old canvas rolls.
For example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/317546467712

While they don't offer this exact configuration, Paktek still makes a few versions:

^ They show up frequently on ebay. Check "nut driver" set or "hex driver" set. Made by Century Tool and others for government contract.
search:
5120-542-5799 (4 piece set)
5120-00-679-4459 (9 piece set)

Those are the FSN/NSN numbers for the SET and is generally the number silkscreened onto the exterior of the canvas pouch.

Giller re-branded them as well.
Can't recall at the moment who the other outfit was that made that set.

I received a large care package from BK recently. Perhaps he was taking pity on me for lack of recent sales in the Tahoe basin. Among the eclectic selection of tools in the box was this batch of Irwin auger bits and a nice but lightly marked roll to hold the set. After some de-rusting of the bits and cleaning of the roll, I ended up with a really nice auger bit set, many of them unused with tip protection material still in place.

Not at all... I was just cleaning house!
I'm not a wood worker, and I wasn't even sure if those were salvageable (which shows what I know about auger bits.) I figured if they were, you would know how to do it.
I think most of those came out of that Snap-on roller I bought a few weeks back and another "package deal" from a while back.
There are a couple other members who will be receiving packages - I just haven't had a chance to get to them yet with all the commuting back and forth to Sequim and my most recent bout with dentists and such.
