Like any tool, if it can make the job easier at a reasonable price, I'm in.

Exactly!

The NBA finals are starting tonight and I am about to pick up an 18 pack of Coors Banquet thats going to cost as much as those Icon pliers did! Atleast in the morning I will still have the pliers... and a headache at work!

GO SPURS GO!!

I think there are certain situations they can make things easier but I don't use them very often and have never tried them for automotive work. The only pair I have are a pair of Irwins made by NWS but they are made for eletrical work. They can be handy for getting at wire in tight electrical boxes.

I have these with the wide jaws. I almost never use them, but maybe once a year they work when nothing else will.

I never knew how much I needed a set until I had them, use them almost every day. When I checked everyone else in the hangar had at least one set. Wouldn’t be without them.

The needle nose version have been my go to for years, only using a straight handled version if access requires.

But, this thread motivated me to order another pair of them!

I use these at work. I don’t remember what brand they are, but they were available years before Icon came out with their copy of the Snap-on. They don’t replace other basic pliers for me, but certainly do complement them.

These were a steal for $14. Jaws line up, joint is smooth, grip is comfortable for me. Haven’t spilled anything on the grips to see how they like solvents and such. Time will tell. The pair are currently unavailable but they have the pair plus diagonal cutters for $23.

^ They're cheaper every time I look at them on Amazon, Eric. It's nutty. What's going on with Chinese pliers?

And yeah.. I gave my buddy a pair of that same angle-jawed needle-nose last week - he was kind of impressed - they seem to be fairly decent. For the price, you really can't complain too much.

^ China has the best manufacturing technology in the world it seems. They get very high yields and terrific consistency in highly automated factories. Great star just went from being an also ran to the worlds 4th biggest tool company in 4 years. Remarkable.
