Don, there's a hook on top to hang it, there's also a hook on the bottom, was that used to hang another lantern from or was that used to stabilize the lantern from swinging

I believe that the lower handle is for swinging the lantern for signaling

Well Switching gears in the garage is a very common thing now days. 1) I have the El Camino In process.
2) I have the big C.O.E in process.
So Why not start 1 more big project?



I can't drive this one any more (last 10 years) so why not fix that

1- new 429 ford motor
2- new corvette suspension
3- new rotor brake system
4- Automatic transmission
5- While we are doing it why not make it a big window truck with A/C, Which mean new paint job

I've been very disappointed that since I've gotten older that I couldn't drive my lil red pickup any longer. It is an original non molested pickup with the old straight 6 motor backed up with the old 4 speed granny gear transmission. At the first of the year I took some old corvette suspension...

The bottom bail (handle) on a traditional ship's lantern is used for stabilization and hoisting. Sailors tie one rope to the top handle to hoist the lamp up the ship's mast, while simultaneously tying a second "tag" line to the bottom bail to keep the heavy lantern from swaying in the wind.

I took the motor over to the shop today and see that the front X member is tacked into place so the next move is to mount the motor onto the frame




They are getting ready to weld the rear suspension mounts to the frame

Don, saw this at a car show today and I thought of you. They say wheels can make or break a car, and I think they missed the mark. Kind of a cool paint job - bit of a chameleon.

They also transplanted a modern Lincoln interior.

Not right to speak ill of another man's ride. Especially if it's likely his "baby" as this one. All I can say is, "Meh"

Saleen used it too. I knew a guy who worked there and the Feds watched them spray it and took all the remaining paint and used masking materials. After a year or two they used a different materials to make the paint and the oversight wasn't needed.

Ford's original 1996 "Mystic" chrome paint shared color-shifting pigment technology with U.S. currency security ink, requiring strict federal oversight.

Started one more small project yesterday after picking up my big lantern from the pinstriper




I found this small starboard lamp up in the barn and thought it would go good with the other ship lamps so I brought it down took it apart and started polishing it up to find all the dents. Then I started banging it around before I give it a glaze coat of bondo.

Got the starboard lantern put back together today


So while waiting on the wood and painter for the El Camino I decided to start a new project. One that I've been ancious to get into the BPG for a couple of years.

I'm going to do this unit in smaller sections so I've started with one of the turrets



Today was teardown day



Next I thought I'd try to sand blast the smaller pieces in my hand box. It worked out pretty good but it is too hot to continue this afternoon. More progress tomorrow I hope

Bad news. My air compressor has died. It died while I was sand blasting parts for the Turret work bench.
So I had to stop working on those pieces and pulled the other turret into the shop and dismantled it while waiting for my new compressor to arrive on Tuesday. I've turned my attention back to the El Camino and the wood floor for the bed. We now have all the pieces made and fitted for the structure of the smuggler's door



After I secure the two beams we can cut the doors to size and get them ready to install then the wood project will be back on hold until the truck is repainted

I’m not in the market for a new compressor at the minute but curious what brand and size you ordered if you care to share.

I’m pretty sure you are the only mid seventies human with 3 big personal vehicle projects in the works that has time to work on other stuff.

I'm waiting for an Ingersoll rand 10 horse screw type compressor. It should be big enough to handle my sand blasting booth out behind the shop so I can start working on bigger projects. I've been putting off getting a compressor to handle it all waiting on this one to die
