WrightGrip 1.0 vs 2.0

Do any of you guys have both versions? I have one single WrightGrip 1.0 in the size 1/2 inch that I picked up at a contractor supply.

Nice wrench but the open end is completely unusable unless you can tolerate the constant gritty feel and the grinding noise of it getting caught on the nut as you're trying to pull the wrench away for another turn. How does the 2.0 feel compared to the 1.0 ?

Recently moved to FACOM 440 after experiencing challenges with the Wright 2.0 and brass fittings. On steel fittings I am neutral about the Wrights.

My 2.0's don't feel gritty. Never used them on something soft though.

For those shopping carts, I was using two extra long 1/2 inch Snap-on's. They be some bad-*** wrenches.

My 1/2 inch Wright 1.0 is heavier than my Snap-on in the equivalent size even though the Wright is one inch shorter.

I’ve used them on hundreds of brass fittings and the damage inflicted is greatly overstated, IMO. MAYBE you get two lines imprinted on a couple of the flats but nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t use them on a chrome fastener but otherwise they’re fantastic

By reading all the comments it looks like the 2.0 is not much better than the 1.0 version. Wright should offer a smooth open end version of their combination wrench for guys who want to use the open quickly without it getting caught on the corners. They should also offer a long pattern for the sake of common sense too.

I liked the smaller heads on the 1.0. The 2.0 is almost a lobster claw.

The 2.0s are my favorite wrenches... Although I do like my Craftsman overdrive which are often a little tight.... And I have some protos I like...

One of the great things about this board is the wealth of experience both within automotive and without. One mechanic may say the complete opposite of another, but both experiences are valid.

I bought a set of Wright combination wrenches several months ago and tried to use them at work. I run into many brass fittings and the Wright wrenches were often too tight on fittings where Snap-on, S-K, old Craftsman, old Williams were all fine. Also the Wright Grip feature tears up brass fittings. This may not be relevant in your field, but this has been my experience.

This has been my experience as well. Some of the Wrights will not slip onto brass fittings and others are so snug that when pulled off, gouge the fastener.
