If you use the tools enough you can eyeball sizes to some degree of accuracy (like my mechanic gramp, but to be fair he could only spot the difference between 11/16" and 3/4, metric hadn't been invented back then), if you don't use them that often having to reference some easily forgotten color palette doesn't help.

I can't see myself remembering what sizes are what colors. To me, the only benefit of the color is that it makes it quick and easy to see the actual size. They could all be the same color as long as it stands out.

LOL, what exactly do you love about it? No way in hell you're going to remember what those colors mean unless you have a photographic memory.

At least, while working with two wrenches, you will know which one to pick up next.
But you're out of luck if they are, for example, 7/16" and 5/8".

The colors on these wrenches don’t match the colors on my nut drivers…….. The color coding is a stoopid feature and I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast so I can never get use to the colors.

BTW! Buy these for the wrenches NOT the colors.

The color pattern is cyclic and repeats, the problem is that the sets have skips which means that the color pattern is not actually complete... You can use it to immediately tell that you're missing something. But I do have to admit that when I have three of something sitting there, it makes it really easy for me to be able to more quickly grab what I'm getting at least when the color is visible

I guess I'm just too stoopid to appreciate the cosmetics .. personally preferring clear markings, but a little paint is likely cheaper than large engravings

Where the logic lost me is some 1/32" skips skip a color and some don't.

that coloring would make it nice for wrenchs thrown in a draw like mine. i cant read the sizes anymore. However i'm used to nut driver colors yelow being 5/16, blue 3/8 ,etc It doesnt match that standard thats been around for years. Kinda gives me a idea to maybe mark my wrenchs with a band of colored taped. I have the metrics and sae all thrown together, I don't have time nor waste of draw space for all that neatness. I have two bottom 44" roller cabinets and cant hardly shut the drawers as it is.

the colors seem trivial to me. say i am working on my truck... i know every fastener on there is 10, 12, 14, 17, 19... and a 10 and a 12 do not look similar, you can clearly tell which is which. Aside from that I can tell with 98% accuracy which socket or wrench is what just by looking at it (and i'm assuming most of you can). If you are working on a project that you're not familiar with the hardware on, and you aren't able to tell just by looking at it... how does it help that the wrench is labeled in colors if you don't even know what size fastener you are dealing with anyway? I feel like this conversation about color coding is ignoring the elephant in the room; its not really useful. If you use your tools often enough to remember which is what, then you are probably already to the point of identifying the size at a glance.

I know what i am looking for, i just can't find it, I have a ,14, 15, 16. 17, 1/2 9/16 5/8 ie all laying on top each other, can't see the writing on them so your shuffling through them if you don't have your glasses on. Kinda feel like Ray Charles sometimes. gotta grab it, pick it ,look at the engraved numbers and aw **** one size off, and throw it back. If I only had one set it may be differant.

It looks like a repeating pattern of Roy G Biv to me. i learned that in the second grade so it is burned in. Its the near time memory that fails me.

If your wife/gf has a silhouette/cameo stencil cutter? Would it be practical to acid etch the metal?
And one would need to consider whether to make the stencil a negative image.
sort of a lot of work and figuring.

To be fair, those I got came with something else - in a yellow/black color scheme - not Tekton, which I'd expect to be first rate

How did you do this?

I used a Silhouette Curio to cut my template in vinyl. If I were to do it again I'd reverse the image and just etch out the numbers. Blacking the background how I did it was challenging. I used the salt water, Q-Tip and battery charger or battery to etch the metal.

These are really nice, works well on rounded bolts... These are pretty tight, which is something I like and also a complaint.

Oddly, the 11 set of SAE wrenches has some not included in the big set (and I think the big set had one not in the 11 set, but would need to check my notes).
