Hi everyone!
The #FrenchKangarooStory continued.

Today was the French Kangaroo’s appointment at the dealership for the ignition key/lock assembly exchange. That was uneventful, took them approx. 15 minutes, I paid the bill (labor) and was on the road again.
I did ask for the old ignition key/lock assembly back, so I can make this story a little more worthwhile:
Here is the ”culprit”. For those interested it’s made by Valeo, it’s an original Renault part. (I have not seen the new part.)
Now for what is wrong with it.
Steering wheel lock engaged (red arrow). Assuming we just inserted the key, this is OK.
Now we turn the key, and the steering wheel lock disengages/retracts and disappears (red arrow). Once we reach close to position “1” it clicks and the steering wheel lock will remain disengaged. This is also as it should be.
Now when turning key back into position “0”, and we keep forward pressure (red arrow) on the key, the steering wheel lock keeps its retracted position/ is disengaged. This simulates how it should be, but actually WITHOUT any sort of forward pressure/ manipulation.
In the instant that this pressure is lost, like when you would just turn the key back to position “0”, the steering wheel lock engages. And this is not supposed to happen under any circumstances. Only when the key is turned back & fully removed from the lock, the steering wheel lock may engage.

Little bit of catching up to do. We celebrated my 40th Birthday last Saturday, and to prepare for that some bits and bobs were sidelined.
I received two pop-up cards that I’d like to share.
Except for the first card, there wasn’t anything tool/garage/workshop related for my Birthday - as I have many other interests as well.
There’s a lot going on, so yesterday was my first chance at unpacking the Stihl extension for my GTA 26. Haven’t used it except for running the saw a few seconds to ensure it functions as it should.
The extension fixed length & function is all mechanical - no battery/ power.
Saw mount closed.
Saw mount open. Red arrow points were the trigger of the actual GTA 26 saw goes & is then mechanically actuated by pressing the trigger on the extension’s handle. The folding lid is covered with rubber on the inside to ensure a tight fit to the GTA 26 handle.
For this to work, you need to override the safety switch on the GTA 26, this is taken care of by the saw mount. Red arrow.
The GTA 26 fits really tight into the mount/holder, no play - very, very secure. Also there is a hook-thingy (red arrow) to fish/ pull branches that have been cut.
Once you insert the battery it’s ready for action.
My initial observations are that this ”unit’ is very, very top heavy - this will help cutting to some extent but lifting it is a little awkward for how light the GTA 26 feels on it’s on. I think it will just need a little getting used to.
Extension is made in Germany.
While going through my pictures, I found these two from a little fix in-between, a while ago, that I’ll use to fill this post. My better half has a little coin purse which divider likes to become loose/ pop out. It’s not the first time I had to repair it, this time I added a little glue and hope that will do something in terms of longevity of the repair. We’ll see. However, my better half is very happy it’s repaired for the time being.
