What's this older Craftsman drill press worth?

Is that a keyless chuck? Hmmm I would do some research and find out how well those work. They are fine for a cordless drill, but I don't think I would want one on my drill press.

Remove stuck/rusted nut from mower deck

If you bought an impact socket I would whack the socket with a hammer while you have pressure on it. Don't tap on it, really smack the **** out of it. Don't do it on a regular chrome one, or you will be buying another one :). Worst case scenario take it to your local garage. Not an oil change...

$25,000 is my command's (fiancee) approved limit

I agree with the steel building, you get the most bang for your buck I think. Also don't waste any of your $25,000 on bells and whistles. You will find out that the 25k is a one time budget not a lifetime budget :). Get it up, wired, plumbed and insulated for 25k, so you get the biggest place...

Should I buy this car hauler?

I would wait for a better deal. I got an open car hauler a few years ago for $900. It's 26' long with a 20' deck. Had working lights and working brakes on both axles. Racing classifieds are also a good place to look. Like racingjunk.com

    Hobart Welders? Thoughts

I didn't say I was building cars, or welding roll cages. But everything I have welded has held. The tubing breaks before my welds do. If I ever have to front half the frame and rebuild half the car. It will have to go on a jig and it will be TIG welded. For what I use it for it works. Would TIG...

    Hobart Welders? Thoughts

Not sure what you mean by that. Are you just assuming that because it plugs into a regular outlet it can't possibly make a strong weld? If you don't know how to weld, the machine is irrelevant. I check everything I weld, because on the racecar it matters. If the heat didn't penetrate to the...

    Hobart Welders? Thoughts

I bought a Hobart EZ125 Flux Core a few years ago. It works fantastic, and never had an issue. The Flux Core wire splatters and can make an ugly weld at times. But I have used it to weld everything from oil pans, fuel tank cage, cross members on my race car, to a tire rack for the trailer. Even...

Furnace in a crawl space under house

I have to go under there this week to check my Coax (hooking up a second TV), I will try and snap some pictures.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

It's not 20 years old. It hasn't been used in 20 years. The house was built in the mid 50's and its original to the house.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

That's exactly what I said, except the part about the inspector.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

If the asbestos is all internal, it isn't a safety issue. Asbestos is only bad if it's disturbed and airborne. I am ok if it's contained in the furnace, as any inspector would be too. I just don't want to get half into the tear down and then find it. Now it's exposed and a potential problem.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

The house is on forced a/c. Condenser is outside and evaporator is in the attic. The furnace is about the sice of a short bed pick up truck. It's huge. I will go under this weekend. Although I am expecting asbestos.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

I may have to cut it apart. I don't mind the work to make $200-$300 is scrap.

Furnace in a crawl space under house

This isn't exactly a garage question but the information might help some people on here. I have a house built in 1955. It's a single story ranch style house in Georgia. The house is on a crawl space. The house was built with a furnace under the house in the crawl space. It hasn't been used in...

    Dealing with neighborhood covenants

A few years ago we were looking to sell our house and move into something with more space. We found a new construction in a brand new neighborhood. Nothing was said about a HOA until after we made our offer. Then the Realtor said "oh yeah they have a few rules" I started reading it and it had...

    designing a new garage

What about parking both vehicles next to each other in the driveway and opening all the doors, and measure the width. i doubt you will ever have a situation where both vehicles are in the garage and all the doors are open. But this gives you some space to have things on the walls. The last thing...

    My Compressor Score

My dad had the same compressor when I was growing up. You need to check the air tank well. His finally started to rust after probably 20 years of good service. A rust hole in an air tank can be dangerous. Check it out.

    Max Tire Pressure?

Not to mention it won't have the correct contact patch with the road. Sticker in the door jam or check the owner's manual for the correct tire size and pressure. The only time I would ever inflate a tire based on what is written on the side wall, is on a trailer.

Fiance' says garage is too big.....

She is a great realtor, but there was nothing in my area and price range. Its a military town and all the houses and neighborhoods are cookie cutter. We are in the country now, I have all the space I need.
