    Can I compress insulation?

Strip off two inches. Its easy to do, messy but easy. Insulation works by trapping pockets of dead air between the fibers, compress the fibers and you've squeezed out your dead air space thus no insulating properties exist any longer. Now all you have is compressed fiberglass. Fiberglass...

My leaning tower (garage) of Ambridge

With all due respect, you didn't say if YOU were going to do the work. I figured why waste time typing a solution if you don't have the skills tools or time to undertake the project. Yes, people without skills DO come on here and post questions whose ultimate solution far outstrips their...

My leaning tower (garage) of Ambridge

I think a big question is do you have skills? Some of us are multi talented and some of us are all thumbs and make repairs via checkbook. If you are a can do guy, save it, it won't cost a lot of cash but you will need tools time and skills. If you are "mr checkbook", knock it down and have a...

Whatever...... I guess years of experience with crawl spaces, old rotten wood outbuildings and having seen massive growths of fungi growth under buildings have left me a tad jaded I guess. How much moisture do you think comes out of bare earth? Just for fun, take a chunk of clear plastic and...

Baffled on how to build wood floor threshold

You've created so many long term water and moisture issues that it is hard to say how to proceed. You can't simply bury a wooden building in soil and stone, or even pour a concrete ramp to the door, the collected water WILL rot out the structure, yes, even the pressure treats unless that...

Water collecting at front of garage

Asphalt driveway? Get a torch, the kind they use for hot roofs or burning weeds out, heat the asphalt on the street side of the depression. Now with a powered tamper (you can rent them) start pounding out a shallow swale so the puddle drains towards the street. If going towards the grass on...

    Twin Overhead Cam Tool

I replaced the timing belt on a 2003 Volvo S40 the other night for a buddy. What a pain in the A$$ to keep the cam gears in place when set on the timing marks! I realized I need yet another tool in my tool box! But which one? Or do I need more than one? I mostly work on "imported"...

Which bay should I put my lift in?

It depends how much space is between the left edge of the left door and the wall. If you've got five or six feet, that's plenty, if that door hugs the wall.... Use the center bay. The wall will be the drivers side, it will be very annoying to have it be a tight fit. Dave
