Are these extension cords still OK ?

I would get rid of them all together. If they were hot enough to create smoke and melt the outer plastic, the inner sheathing is more than likely shot too. (sorry I cant see the pictures at work) I would replaced them just for peace of mind. (are you in Vegas?)

    Four year old machanic

Lots of places offer age appropriate tool sets (+2 +4 +6 ETC.). I have several for my two year old. Maybe though, for a four year old a motorized (electric) car may be in order? Also four is a good starting age for the one thing that changed my life! LEGOS!!!!!!!!! But I think the biggest thing...

    Tandom air compressor tanks

I have a 60 gallon belt drive compressor in my shop. I have the possibility of getting three more tanks, w/ old broken unrepairable motors. Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the old motors and plumbing the tanks into a tandom configuration? My biggest concern is the pressure shut off...

    My new dream shop

hahaha. no. Not yet. I have an escrow situation that is forcing me to "repair" certain things for another apraisal to release my funds. After that is done I can rip into it and start checking things out and exploring. Like why do I have 36" hollow walls in the house? Where the hell is the...

    My new dream shop

Thanks guys, Where I am from Mother Nature usually has the heat portion covered. 110 in the summer and above. My little one loves it out there. We leave the trike in the house and let him ride his electric motorcycle out side.:) I collect and build hot rods, customs and motorcycles. I will...

    My new dream shop

We recently moved into our new diggs and I now have good bones to start my new dream shop. The rear garage is 3000 sq. ft. and has five bays. Three doubles, a tall RV single and another single on the end. The two doubles on the right are walled off from the taller segment and this is where I...

    Are your kids mechanically inclined?

Its got to be a mixture of everything said. Genetics, environment and economics. I was exposed to general DIY from a very early age. My father was a jack of all trades but master of none and always rigged everything he did. I got my strong work ethic and resourcefulness from him. (environment)...

    Water Heater woes

Thanks VHF. Turns out the tank sat so long there is over a foot of sediment trapped in it. (I am on a well and that went without filtering for the time the house was vacant) So bad that when you open the bottom drain, nothing comes out! We even stuck a wire up in it to try and de-lodge the...

    Water Heater woes

I have a GE profile performance 50 gallon electric water heater. The home and heater sat vacant for 7 months with the water heater on and no water. When we moved in I started the water service again, the tank filled but there was no hot water. I checked and replaced the thermostat and heater...

    Garage junky from Nevada

Thanks Brad. Trust me if I could have found a bigger place I would have! But it is big enough for my fab shop and collection of cars and bikes. I figure I should be able to get 11-15 in without a problem. The best thing is its about 33 feet deep so tandom Parking the smaller hot rods wont be an...

    Garage junky from Nevada

Hi all. I have been a lurker or awhile, but have recently moved homes and now have the place of my dreams so I thought it was a good time to make an official introduction. I left a really cramped 3 car garage, and picked up a lil bigger place on an acre w/ a 8 bay 3000 sq. ft. shop on the land...
