    The deck from hell...

Girlfriend is still going to be attending UIC for the year, so she might need to stay if we can't find her another, cheaper place to stay (with a friend or something). We're also looking for a roommate to move into this apartment with her. As soon as I have a definite answer of needing to...

    The deck from hell...

Ok, so this just keeps getting more and more interesting. Lemme respond to a few points here: -Yes, I am a "younger" person. I am 24, and my girlfriend is 22. She initially began renting the apartment, and I have subsequently moved in. We are both students, which brings me to my next point...

    The deck from hell...

The deck has degraded so much in just the last year alone I honestly don't think it was built that long ago. My guess was that it was built just a few years ago with non-treated wood, but like I said that's just my guess. Also, old decks may be grandfathered in, but that cannot mean they're...

    The deck from hell...

Well, I've been out of town all weekend, but I texted the landlord earlier and asked if she'd had a chance to take a look at the deck.... Tim would be her husband. (who was probably the "structural engineer" who constructed the original work of art). I suppose I'll post pics when I get...

    The deck from hell...

We've been in the apartment for a year and a half now. It seems like winter really did a number on the deck because recently we've noticed it's not too steady, prompting me to take a look, and finding the stair issue. The area under the deck is the patio for the downstairs apartment, so this is...

    The deck from hell...

I've notified the landlord that it needs to be fixed. I'm out of town this weekend, but they are supposed to be coming to look at it on Saturday. If they don't move forward with a professional repair then I will take that advice. I live in Chicago, IL. One call to the building inspector and...

    The deck from hell...

We rent, and this deck seriously needs to be replaced. I'm working with the landlord to get it up to code, but I've told her I am not going to do the work because I am not licensed, nor a professional, and I don't want the liability. I did have to make one fix though, because the stairs were...

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

I'm going to return something at Walmart in the morning, will any of THESE work? Otherwise I can make the journey over to Home Depot if really needed.

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

As stated in the original post, the OEM waterproofing is extremely sub-par and many owners have had failures because of it, most after the warranty expires. I figured $4-$5 with of epoxy would be considered saving my money over throwing out the $60 item.

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

Hmm... I haven't heard this before... I wonder which would be non-noncorrosive... I'd imagine any that list metal or copper under recommended uses.

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

The double syringes of epoxy were about the exact same price as the liquid tape. The only reason I went with the tape was because NONE of the epoxies I find at auto zone, micro center, target, off Walmart said that they were either safe for electronics and/or non-conductive. I feel like I...

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

So I grabbed some liquid electrical tape today and gave it a shot. It's close to what I was looking for, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to hold up long-term. For now though, the board is just going to get a liberal application of it. Until I can find an inexpensive epoxy this should...

Yeah, that is exactly what I was looking for, except it's astronomically expensive.... http://www.kranderson.com/shop/Humiseal

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

Bed liner is actually an interesting suggestion. I don't think it will work though because the circuit board has exposed electrical contacts, and therefore any coating will need to be non-conductive to avoid shooting shorting out. As for the housing I'm going to seal that as well but this...

    Waterproofing a circuit board help!

I am looking for an epoxy/sealant that I can use to seal up an LED light. It's going to be used as a reverse light on my SUV, but I go through the car wash a couple times a week, and I'm confident that the pressure washers will kill it. It IS intended for outdoor use on a vehicle. Here is...

Yikes! Too Many Power Tool Cords.

When I moved in to my current place, in the garage there was a pile of wood and a few wooden "baskets" in the corner with rope (WTF??) in them. When I moved the baskets I found two old circular saws, an all metal Milwaukee that looks to be as old, or older than me, and a Skill from at least a...

    Restroom stalls.and security screws

Being 23 and just going back to college after saving up, I cannot even imagine how ****** kids make your job. Even at my community college kids 18-21 ish years old behave with absolutely no regard to the value of other peoples property. It's a ******** college campus in a relatively affluent...

Can you engrave a wrench with black chrome finish?

That was my first thought, but give him a chance. Frank, where are you from? And why does your signature say "welcome"?

    Sockets Tracking Lists

This list is actually for my personal use, and I do have the Craftsman item lists for each of those sets with every individual socket and the part number if needed. That is a really good point though, and if I do ever submit it to insurance I will be sure to do it as such. Actually, thinking...

    Restroom stalls.and security screws

After having Taco Bell last week I'm pretty sure I made the Terrorist Watch List for what I did to the bathroom at the mall. Children were crying.
