    First thing is your confusing wire speed with heat . Your voltage is your heat. I use a general setting of 19 volts and 250 ipm wire speed ( 035 wire, 75/25 gas) you can weld up, down, overhead with this setting. When welding down hill you have to watch out for cold lap especially on dirty...

    jack oil will break down over time. If you think it has lost some of its lift capacity it might help to put in new oil.
