    TV in the work shop?

Yep 42" flat screen connected to a PVR sat receiver with a separate dish on the shop. Roku or laptop gives access to youtube how-to vids when needed, eBay and web tech info. Wife works hospital night shifts and comes home and crashes, so I can't watch those F1 qualifying sessions or races live...

Nasties corner, a collection of shop projects past and present

Hi Claude, Yes I am tuned in to this channel :-) Although not as sophisticated as some of the cool stuff you are doing, Project X is progressing well at this end. Those dimple dies will come in handy once I get into the sheet metal part of the project. About 5 cm of snow here last night, I...

I use stainless fishing leader wire on my CNC hot wire cutter. You can get it at Cabella's or any other good tackle supplier. Search for "leader wire" here http://www.cabelas.com

    Who's got lathes?

I picked up this late 60's 13" South Bend today from a machinery dealer for 500$. It's filthy but complete and fairly tight, ID tag on it shows it's from a local community college. It came with the milling attachment. They're still out there guys, keep your eyes peeled!

    Built-it-myself tools/machines - show us what you've done

Lots of great ideas on this thread! Once you get the cnc bug, it's very addictive and you've got it for life. I picked up a late seventies Bridgeport cnc milling machine for 1000$ on Kijiji a couple of years ago. It had been listed as 'best offer'. Cleaned it up and built a new controller for...

whats your best cl tool or garage score been?

Wow, that Monarch lathe is a beauty! I like the Millrite too. I picked up a Bridgeport Series 1 CNC mill on Kijiji here locally at the end of 2008. It was listed "best offer" at a machine shop that needed the space. In the end I got it for 1000$ + 300$ to move it. Cleaned it up and put a new...

    plasma cutter

I bought an ESAB 875 on ebay brand new. It came with all the factory tags and tyraps still on it. Got lucky and got it for 675$ & 25$ shipping to upstate NY. Nominal capacity is 7/8" I would recommend keeping an eye on ebay, be patient and only buy NIB (new in box) listings. You can get...

    Built-it-myself tools/machines - show us what you've done

Great thread, great ideas, thanks guys! I've been scratching my head about how to fix my cheapie knockoff Roper Whitney hand punch to my bench to make it easier to use. I know they make a proper stand for the RW but it's kinda pricey and I couldn't be sure it would mate with my Taiwan made US...
