    Deutsch Connectors

I have had one of their "kits" in my amazon shopping cart now for a week or so. Hadnt heard any real world reviews yet. Let me be more specific. Most of the work I do is with barrel style crimped pins in any of a variety of equipment. We also make our own harnesses when necessary to run...

    Let's see your toolbox.

Heres My new 56" HF top and bottom, next to my old 44 with side cab that was full to the gills and then some. New guy bought that from me and I hopped in the pickup and ran to the local HF and got myself the new one.

    US General 72"

I realize that the box isn't as deep, and probably isnt ideal, but Im on the hunt for something. I kick myself all the time now for not trading when my Snap On guy had a used black Matco triple for 1500!!

    US General 72"

Autoxvaliant, thats the type of feed back I wanted to hear! I'd love to see some pics of what it looks like after daily use in a cat shop. We run mostly cat, but our forestry equipment varies widely.

    US General 72"

Now before I get the bashing, "go search", etc etc I would like to say, I have searched, and I still have a question! Im in need of a larger box for work. My current 44" w/side cab is over full, as is the locking storage on the bottom of my bench (large wrenches and 1" drive sockets mostly)...

    1/2 impact socket set over 1 1/4?

My Matco/ADV set goes from 5/16ths to 1-1/2" in 1/2" drive. I really am happy with the set. My 3/4" impact gun is an Aircat th1600, Awesome gun and for under 400 bucks even better!

Best way to acquire larger 20mm+ wrenches?

Yes almost daily they are used by someone in our shop (my set is under my bench available to drivers/mechanics alike), Never had too much of an issue with them not fitting. Only thing I wish is that they had included a 1-7/16"

Best way to acquire larger 20mm+ wrenches?

Not sure what you do or what you work on, but I use 21mm on Cat equipment quite a bit (new stuff obviously), 30mm, 36mm, Much beyond those my HF combo and offsets fill the void.

Which air fittings do you prefer? Why?

Left, I have them on my own stuff, the last 3 shops, and my service truck all were set up that way. From die grinders and air ratchets to 1" guns

Heavy Equipment Guys, School me in Mulitmeters

Mine doesnt really lack, it Lacks more in literature. I dont have a huge amount of electrical back ground but I have no choice but to learn it (who doesnt look around you everythings electronic). Basics are nice, but I'd like something that didnt feel like Playskool made it for a...

    Snap On 31/32 socket

Heavy Equipment Guys, School me in Mulitmeters

I'm sort of an electrical newbie. I came from old equipment where you had 12 or 24 volts to everything. The stuff im working on now nothings older than 98/99 so its a learning curve for me, and I really want something that comes with or has a good amount of "back up" information on the...

Heavy Equipment Guys, School me in Mulitmeters

Whats everyone using for Multimeters on Heavy Equipment? I see Fluke, Matco, Blue Point, Snap On, Extech and a few others on the market now, but whats recommended with out jumping both feet into a Fluke? I have an "el-cheepo" now that lets me "get by" but I'd really like something I could...

    Flex head socket

I have sk, craftsman, and snap on, all mixed together to make 1/4 and 3/8" drive "sets" in both Metric (to 19mm) and SAE to (3/4"). Only thing I've noticed is some are "looser" in the pivot which doesnt really matter to me as I tape them all anyways. I also have one matco (10mm 12pt 3/8 drive...

How is your HF tool box holding up, oldest?

Three years here. Both the box and the side drawers, every drawer is loaded heavy. Tipped over once onto its back while in transport...loaded. Only casualty was nearly center of the main box the top lip got jammed maybe 3/8" of an inch. The rubber mat ontop doesnt take well to oils.

    Wheel hub-nut wrench

Maybe a heavy truck hub socket and weld a piece of 1/2" cold rolled steel to it? Or a cheep 3/4 drive socket from say HF and weld a piece of 1/2" cold rolled to it?

Official "show me your specialty sockets" thread

"double deep well" 3/4" socket? Brake can release pins on heavy duty trucks. 3/4" nut, and the "pin" is around 5" long. I'll have to snap some pics of the shop's custom "sockets" at work. Hydraulic cylinders and final drives (amongst other things) in heavy equipment require some interesting...

    Let's see your toolbox.

HF 44" box, with the 7 drawer side. I've owned it 4 years wrenched out of it every day. For the money, cant beat it. This is just the top drawer, every one is full like this. The impact set is a new ADV set from matco, from 5/16" to 1-1/2". Not sure I'll ever use a 5/16" 1/2" drive impact...

What size sledge hammer do you use?

When I was in the field working on Rock Crushers and large equipment, I carried a 15# with a 30 or 32" handle, a 10# with a 26" handle, and if I knew it was going to be bad, a 20# with a 36" handle. Why the longer handle with the heavier head? I dont know, I just realized it typing this. I like...
