Any market for the old green porcelain light fixtures?

I've got about a dozen or so of the round shades and four of the angled. Any market for these things? I pulled the photos off of Ebay, I didn't have any photos of mine handy. If needed I can dig them out of my garage attic and forward pictures of the actual units if desired. Edit: Bought...

Guys in cold climates-what are you trying to finish before the freeze?

With the days getting uber-short and the cold weather coming in I'm scrambling to : (1) Repaint the gables on the garage (2) finish a paver patio (3) start and finish a 4'x25' flagstone walk next to the garage (4) build a 2- facecord firewood storage rack (5) finish up some misc landscaping and...

Looking for recommendations on self-leveling rotary laser

Any recommendations from you guys? Typical useage will be laying out foundations, hanging cabinets, drop ceiling installation, grade work. Right now I'm considering a Johnson kit at Home Depot for $399.00 that comes with head unit, detector, tripod, telescoping 8'3" reference pole, etc. Rented...

    Looking for block laying advice...

I've decided that the big project for the summer will be to build a pergola next to my garage. The whole affair is held up by five 2'x2' masonry pillars, of which I've decided to try building the hidden (sub-grade) portion. The exposed brickwork will be left to an experienced bricklayer who...

FYI...Good source for cheap garage cabinets

I've found some pretty good deals at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore outlets. Tons of cabinets, metal drawers, fridges, etc. for cheap. Occasionally you'll see "new" cabinets from Lowe's/Home Depot and Ikea that were pulled out of in-store displays to make room for newer stuff.

Opinions wanted-radial arm vs. compound mitre saws

I've got a 10" Craftsman radial arm that seems to be serving duty as "table" more than saw and a 12" Bosch non-sliding compound mitre that seems to be my go-to whenever I need to cut a piece of stock. I've got a folding table saw for ripping down wide or longish pieces as well. Is there any...

Call me crazy-I miss building my garage.

I'm glad that it's up and I'm getting utility from it, but MAN do I miss the actual construction part of the job. Looking back there was soooo much satisfaction from raising the first wall and setting of the ridge beam. I'm doing landscaping/yardwork kind of stuff now and I can almost hear my...

    New guy, here's my refuge...

Didn't know this section of the forum was here until now, here's a few pix of the garage I finished building in '08. Did the design on Autocad and was built by a friend and myself after work and on the weekends (subbed out the foundation/flatwork and brick). Had fun building it, made mistakes...

    yet another newb...

Hi all-very cool site, I really wish I found it earlier. I finished building a detached three-car garage back in '08 and am getting a ton of ideas from this place. Looking forward to spending many hours this coming winter going through this site and all the posts.
