Having restored a number of boxes I applaud your efforts. It's great to hear that the slides are good. Buying a box with bad slides was the number one killer of momentum on past box restores for me. They're hard to straighten. I have a matching 1957 bottom roller to your cabinet. Good Luck.

So your picture of the side rails would indicate that instead of screws (which were a part of mine) you have a rivets securing your rails. I would drill those out. Removing the rails allows you to remove the door. You could pop rivet them back in place once you solve your issue. Sorry, I didn't...

What I recall is that there are 2 screws each that hold the rails to the side. once off you can disassemble the tamboor door.

I removed those rails and took the door out to inspect.
