First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

sorry, i never updated you contributors on the "progress". Got all the boards screwed down to my liking, I cut within about 1/4" of the frame, with plans to flush cut the remainder with a router but that hasn't (probably won't) happened! as it stands, this is a "shed base", MAY tackle walls and...

Would you believe this is record time for me?

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

1 - got the longer screws 2 - predrilled into the plywood only, 'cause I was nervous about the bit walking/being close to the edge (didn't need to predrill the 2x4 like you all said, thanks!) 3 - had a brain fart and chose to place the screw DIRECTLY OVER the horizontal screws (so ended up using...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

(sorry for the multi-messages, saw this after i posted) 3's? that long, potentially? And I love to blame the equipment any chance I get, why is deckmate garbage? (This could be the cause of some screws not tightening!)

Good-to-know, thanks! Glad I asked, back to the hardware store! Thanks again!

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

So these Deckm8te ones, just drive 'em home? So far I've only done dimensional lumber joining, this will be my first sheeting-to-dimensional lumber fastening, I use a 9/64" brad bit to start the holes, maybe it's not staying true on the ones that aren't tightening. No risk of splitting the...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Happy New Year! (officially) Ok, yes, I will be wasting money and plywood on this, but I'm ok with that...right now... When screwing down the subfloor, is predrilling not necessary? (All of the videos I've seen, they don't.) Is there an advantage or disadvantage to it at this stage? (Only...

Those were temp blocks, I'll remove them before posting any future pics/questions!

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Happy New Year's (Eve), to you fine people! Not 'tis a great time to update you on the shed foundation progress, as well as ask one FINAL question for 2025! So I've learned that the 4x8 sheets are actually less than 4x8...(plus, my frame comes in closer to 7'11.5", oops!)...anyhoo, i'm shy of...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Okay, had some time to relax, I'd like to thank you all for the hand-holding! That's probably the keystone statement right there! I take it as "the wood is not perfect, and neither are you!" His build is the main one I'm using, with other resources sprinkled in. Lol...i never told you about...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

(I still never figured out why the top of the board is not flush with the top of the rim joist, because the bottom on both ends is...i'm gonna blame wonky hardware...but i like the idea of adding a shim between the top of the outer joist and the bottom of the floor board.)

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Okay all, another question... The tutorial I'm following for this build said to place the boards that the joists attach to (don't know the proper terminology!) together, and mark the joist locations on both boards at the same time, to keep things consistent and potentially avoid any errors...

Knowing me and my sawing "skills" , this is the most probable reason! Will report back once I get a few joists in.

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

The left end of the 8' board is flush in the corners on the far left (out of picture) and the right end of the 12' board is flush with the opposite 8' board. I'm hoping it's just that the 8' board is "less tall" than the 12' board at the joint, but haven't measured yet. Screws are already in so...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Update... Ok, everybody, FINALLY got screws in all four corners! (What's it been, a month? Near record time for me!) Anyhoo, help me feel better about this...3-out-of-4 corners, the ends met flush, but this one didn't...that happens sometimes, right? Different tolerances? Since this is "just a...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Thanks, again, everyone! I am currently at the step where I need to cut down the outer 2x8's so that the resulting width of the frame (2x8's inside the 2x12's) will be 8' (12' x 8' shed). Then I planned to measure the diagonals (already nervous about how to hook the tape measure on the corners!)...

First time building a storage shed, squaring the frame questions

Good day, all, Finally getting around to building a much-needed storage shed, and I have a few questions about making sure the 2x4 foundation/base frame is square, and what to do if it's not. - is it safe to assume you can't do any checking for square until all four corners of the frame are...
