How do you clean your epoxy?

I am curious to know how you clean the epoxy floors. I want to wax, or finish them with something. I generally mop in between projects, so it shouldn't be too dirty, but its getting plenty of little scratches and the finish isn't quite what it used to be. I was told that I couldn't put...

A/C Pros! How do you bend tubing? Please help!

I am trying to run the tubing for the Garage A/C unit, and I have already messed it up. This 3/8ths inch tubing seems much stiffer than I remember. I need to make 3 or 4 right angle turns for this install. Here you can see its started to crimp. And closer up here: I haven't forced it...

    Stupid Question about Air lines.

I have a stupid question. I bought a 3 foot 1/4" air line that goes from the compressor to the 1/2" copper pipe on the wall. I need an adapter to make it fit the hole on the compressor and to fit the copper pipe. Do they make a short whip in 3/8th inch? I am sure they do, but I have no...

Can you have two thermostats on one system?

So I have a regular boring A/C system. I moved the thermostat down to the dining room and its working much better than before. I always forget to turn off the A/C before I go upstairs to bed, so I have to come back downstairs. Can I put in a second A/C thermostat? Any ideas?

    Water Hammer?

The water main is about a inch pipe that comes in from the street. Then it comes out to the sprinkler system. I have the usual CPVC pipes for the hot water heater. The sprinkler controller is right next to the water heater. When I cycle through the sprinkler zones, I can see the water lines...

    Heat Pump Water heater?

Anyone have any experience with heat pump water heaters? Trying to decide if they are worth the extra money or if I should go with a conventional electric water heater. Gas is not an option.

    Temporary Garage Heating...

What do you recommend for a short term garage heating option? Not looking for a permanent install, but something that I could set up and use a couple days and then put back in storage till next year. It got down to 30 degrees twice this year. Only time I would need additional heating would be...

    Mini Split Wall Brackets Questions...

I have a set of mini-split wall brackets that I ordered with the mini-split unit. The place selling them says they are just fine for the unit. The install manual says I need more than 12" from the back of the unit to the wall. The bracket doesn't give me that option. The unit itself is 13"...

    Window vs Mini-splits?

So my friend had one window with two a/c units stuck in it side by side. One was 10000 btu, the other was 8000 btu. Both new from wally world. It was doing a poor job cooling off that 2 car garage yesterday. Granted it has an non-insulated wood garage door. So now I am thinking 18000 btu...

Painting Door seals causes them to curl?

I recently had my house painted, and now the seal around the garage door is pulling back. Here is a picture of the seal. Now I have a 1/4 inch gap. This is going downhill. This is the way it used to be: Also the garage door seal on the bottom does not seal completely in some places...

Small engine troubleshooting...32cc Craftsman Zamba carb

So I have a 32cc craftsman trimmer. Its coming up on its 3 year anniversary since I bought it. I am having issues with keeping it going. It runs better with the leave blower and edger attachments but will run at 3/4 throttle just fine. I broke down the carb, cleaned it and reassembled it...

Looking for a string trimmer with a honda motor. I want to use the detachable attachments, so that rules out the honda brand since I can't break it down for storage. Any suggestions?

Sealing up the A/C Holes on flex ducting joints...

I have holes in a couple ducts that I would like to seal up. This is the duct on top of the indoor AC unit. Clearly there is some dust collecting in a few places. Should I just stuff more insulation in there or should I use foam or tape or something? This is a duct that is a strange one...

How much does it cost to cool down a garage?

So I have a typical 3 car garage that is around 20x30. My brother made an interesting point, in that cooling down the garage is going to cost money every time I do it. How much do you think it would take to cool down the garage for just one day? Just wondering. The Mini-split pilot program...

Help me sort out a rats nest....

Before everyone starts flaming, I am cleaning up the work of the previous owner of my mansion. Rather than having the wires twisted together and wrapped with tape, I have cut all that away and installed a couple blue boxes. I used wire nuts and tried to make it as clean as possible. Take a...

AC Experts... Is this highway robbery?

OK, so my neighbors, two really great people, just had a brand new A/C system installed in their house. I would say its been maybe 6 weeks, probably less than that. Just over a month, because thats all the warranty they gave them. They spent something like $6500+. I would guess square...
