Those for $142 is a good price. Retail locally for me is $240 for a case of 15.

    HO Tube Problem

I was just shopping for HO tubes. I currently have 95W lamps but could only find 110W ones. I checked the Phillips site and it list the 95W lamps as discontinued. I was thinking to covert to led and found 4' ultra high output led lamps. Problem is they're $20 each. I need 24 of them.

    HO Tube Problem

Be aware with the 8ft led lamps the 1000bulbs seller states they will not cover any shipping damages that occurs to lamps over 4ft. So you're on your own dealing with the carrier if damaged on arrival. I would convert to 4ft led lamps and not deal with the 8ft ones.

I'm not talking about repairing them as a service. As an individual DIY'er I'd attempt to repair one for myself if it wasn't a hassle.

What grade asphalt is it. Looks like a very high sand mix.

Scissor lift- After Sitting in Air Takes time to go up

I don't believe it's normal. The lowering valve may be leaking pressure and after sitting it has to build up fluid pressure to start lifting from a raised height. I should have asked if the lift is new or is this something that has just started and was not a problem before.

    HO Tube Problem

Yes, I'm aware of the actual technical use of the resin. It's just aggravating to think it possibly could be repaired for a couple of dollars if it was just a capacitor.

    HO Tube Problem

It's ashame they fill the ballast with the black resin. It would be cheap to repair if it was just a capacitor. But we know why they make them not repairable. Lost $$$.

totally new to having a 5hp 80 gallon EMAX E350 2Stage 1 phase air compressor.

The motor is continuous duty rated but its use in an air compressor is not always a continuous duty application. There are air compressors designed to run 100% of the time but typical air compressors are not considered a continuous duty application where the compressor will run 3 or more hours...

I was replying to Bert's general comment that a breaker never provides good overload protection for a motor. You asked when was separate overload protection not required for a motor and where was it stated in the NEC. I was not advising to not use separate overload protection on the OP's 5hp...

Geewiz...you need to read NEC 430. 430.32 Continuous Duty Motors vs. 430.33 Intermittent and Similar Duty. One example is my car lift with a 2hp motor only has the breaker to provide overload protection as allowed by 430.33.

Never say never. There are times a breaker can provide the required overload protection for a motor.

Attaching an eye bolt to ceiling for hoist

Is it possible to put a metal saddle over the bottom chord to bolt the strut to so you're not compromising the bottom chord by using large lag screws? What is the bottom chord size?

    HO Tube Problem

I just replaced a HO ballast. Both tubes went out at same time so it was the ballast because normally one tube goes out at a time leaving the other tube lit. It's slim odds two tubes burn out exactly at the same time. And yes you need ballasts that are for HO tubes. How are the tube ends...

I looked at the product manual for that compressor and it states in the electrical section about adding overload protection. Page 7, #9 https://www.aircompressorsdirect.com/EMAX-PE05V080I1-Air-Compressor/p11897.html

If you size the breaker larger to compensate for inrush current then the separate motor overload protection is required. So the reaction time between the two is a mute point. Of course the overload protection will trip before the breaker. We're getting off the OP'S question, so back to regular...

I'm not following when you say "exception". All motor circuits need overload protection. It can be via a breaker alone or combination breaker and a separate overload device for the motor. I'm not aware of the nec spelling out that a motor greater than a fractional hp has to have separate...

Wrong, 50A breaker on #10 hardwired motor circuit is fine as long as the motor has overload protection. You need to read the NEC 430 for hardwired motor circuits. Plus motors are to be wired based on name plate HP, not the listed amps.

Built-in overload protection is what allows the use of a higher amp breaker to prevent nuisance tripping at startup. If no built-in overload protection then you are restricted to use the size of breaker needed to provide the appropriate protection of the motor and circuit. So separate overload...
