Yeah thats the same deal with mine. The backside is basically non-magnetic, while the front side is very strong. I bought these with the intent of trying to use them as socket rails, so it doesn't bug me much.

They're 17" long by about 5 inches wide.

Bought out the enitire inventory (8) of the magnetic tool holders at my local lowes. Took them to work and cut the handles off so that they would fit the long way in my hf toolbox. Make for excellent socket rails.

First time poster here, but I've been watching the threads for quite a while. Just scored this vise at $89.96 for store pickup, and on top of that I earned an additional $20 back in sywr points. Love having the sears card just for the fact that it basically eliminates the MN sales tax.
