    Garage flooring grinding questions

You would think so, but I'm not convinced I hit CSP-3. I used theS-280 shot which is really fine (specified at 250,000 pellets per pound!). The surface was smooth. I am not a concrete expert, but I'm thinking I should have used a bigger size, like S-390 which is 93k pellet per pound. That...

All that is left is the floor- epoxy? ployurea?

I rented the smallest one from Sunbelt rentals. 110V 8" head. I plan to do a writeup on my experiences with grinding. The TL;DR: Grinding is very inconsistent because the heads likely aren't level and you'll get lots of circular scuff marks. I'm sure you've seen them in photos. Issues: -...

    Garage flooring grinding questions

I poured the Aquadike yesterday and did the primer today. Polyurea goes down tomorrow. I wasn't happy with the grind job, Scotty wasn't either so I rented a shot blaster and did it all over again. I've did 2 passes with the single head grinder, 4 passes with the dual head, and now 4 more...

All that is left is the floor- epoxy? ployurea?

I'm in the process of applying my flooring now. Almost done with the first garage. For rentals, I tried THREE different machines. The Home Depot single disc grinder is ok, but IMHO you should go with a shot blaster. So much easier to use, less dust too. I rented mine from Sunbelt; you can...

    Garage flooring grinding questions

I went over the garage floors this weekend. Spent about 30 hours total with the grinder, my hands are raw now. The garage floor looks more uniform, but still not great. The dual head grinder was more like a single head because they had me purchase new magna trap blades and those didn't...

    Hello from WA state!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to working on cars once it's electrified. I have a FB RX-7 to restore and an entire WRX drivetrain that I intend to build an 818C out of. Can't wait to start working on cars again!

    Floor ordered: Nohr-S polyurea

How did it go? I'm going planning to do something similar this weekend. How long did you have to wait between rinsing the acid etch and your primer?

    Garage flooring grinding questions

fwiw - here's what the floor currently looks like. You can see some of it is ground ok, but not really to the aggregate.

    Garage flooring grinding questions

That's what I was thinking too. My grind was adequate in some sports, and swirl marks in others (i.e. 'swirls' were deep, but the area not swirled was virgin concrete). Since the concrete is brand new and unfinished, I'm thinking it's probably ok, but better safe than sorry, right? I don't...

    Hello from WA state!

Yeah, I'm in Renton. The land isn't ideal, I think we're somewhere north of 500 yards of fill material bringing it to grade and managing the slope. In my case the land prep cost over half the entire project cost! Knowing what I know now, I would have chosen a different house to buy! :)

    Garage flooring grinding questions

Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to do that. It's already sketchy enough using 150' x 2 extension cords to run the grinder AND shop vac... Is there a way to empirically test when the concrete is ready to apply a coating? I assume people wait 7-10 days (as above) as a rule of thumb...

    Hello from WA state!

Here are some pics, showing the land as it was before I started, grade, foundation, and final building.

    Garage flooring grinding questions

I hear you about the grinding pads. I looked online to see if I can buy some magnatrac pads, but wasn't able to find them easily or for a good price. I found some sets that were several hundred dollars, but I didn't need that many pads (came as a variety pack). I'm still not sure if I really...

    Hello from WA state!

I think I need 5 posts to do that, yes? I've collected hundreds in an album of the entire process. I want to do a writeup at some point, definitely a long story to tell here! :)

    Hello from WA state!

I've been lurking for a month or two now. Wish I found out about this forum earlier, as it would have saved me a lot of time & money if I had! I'm building a workshop in the greater Seattle area. It's a metal building, roughly 1500sf on a slab. I started researching permits in Feb 2019...

    Garage flooring grinding questions

Hi all! I just erected a 1440sf shop and am planning to do polyurea flooring. I bought a ton of product from Scotty at Legacy Industrial, and am doing the flooring prep now. My plan is as follows: 1) Aquadike moisture barrier (my contractor did NOT put a vapor barrier - long story) 2)...
