My Snap On Dealer Hooked Me Up

So Friday morning the Snap On truck rolls up to my shop. I get on the truck with the sole intention of making a payment and that's all. As I'm standing there, waiting for my coworker to finish his transaction, I'm looking at this shop thermometer sitting on the dash area of the truck next to an...

I broke my Wilton vise today

This is the vise on my workbench at work. I had a part clamped in it today going to town with my air hammer when it broke. It was just par for the course, typical Monday.

New addition to the toolbox - Snap On CTR761A Cordless Ratchet

I'm a mechanic at a busy independent shop. For the past year I have tortured this m12 3/8 ratchet, and it continues to do it's job, but it's starting to get stripped out and a little weak, the battery doesn't stay secure and the black grip is disintegrating. Its time to send the Milwaukee in...

    Gold Plated Air Ratchet

This just came up for sale on a local buy/sell/trade page, I thought it was interesting and thought I'd share:

    Quincy Compressor at Lowes

I'm not in the market for a compressor, but today I was at Lowes and saw in the space where the Ingersoll 80 gallon 5 Hp compressor used to sit is now occupied by this bad boy. Now, I say I'm not in the market because I brought home an IR 80 Gallon 5hp unit about 2 years ago that was...

    Too many drill bits

My Dad built hot rods all of his life, he passed away a few years back and among other things I inherited a box full of drill bits. The box has always resided under my work bench and I would have to dig through it to find something. So anyway I am finally sorting through them trying to put them...

    Exotic Tobacco pipes

This is a little side project I'm working on. I'm exploring a new venture of selling high quality hand carved tobacco pipes. Today I took delivery of a selection of tobacco pipes made from rare and original Ebony, Rosewood & Natural Hardwoods. Each one is a unique work of functional art. I...

    Aircat VS Ingersoll-Rand

Hey folks. Yesterday my 1/4" angle air grinder bit the dust. It was a cheap import and it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did. I'm shopping for a replacement and could use a little help deciding which to get. I'm looking at either of these 2: The IR 3102...

    Todays Estate Sale Haul

I hit up a good estate sale today and scored pretty well. Here's what I hauled home: First I grabbed this old IR 1/2" electric impact. I already removed & re-installed some lug nuts with it to verify it worked. Any guesses on how old this thing is? I picked it up for $7 Next I got this...

Vintage Craftsman Ratchet/Sockets - Hinsdale speeder

    To the best of my knowledge all of these tools are from the 1920's - 1930's. First is a 1/2" drive Craftsman ratchet with 8 6-point sockets in sizes: 11/32" 3/8" 19/32" 3/4" 25/32" 13/16" 7/8" 15/16" ...and 8 square head sockets, sizes: 11/32" 3/8" 7/16" 9/16" 5/8" 11/16" 3/4" 7/8"...

    Mass drill bit storage solutions

I'm looking for ideas to better organize my drill bits. My Dad was a machinist and left me with a good size box full of drill bits mostly ranging from 1/64" - 1/2". The box weighs 75 pounds so there are quite a few drill bits I'm dealing with. I would guess at least 90% are brand new, there are...

Anyone ever seen one of these welders?

Long ago I took this baby arc welder in on trade for some work. It's been sitting on the bottom shelf of my cabinet, I just about forgot about it until today. It's obviously brand new, the cables are still wrapped up like would have come from the factory. It's still got the manual still in...

Snap On 1" drive 2" 12 point socket

As a general rule I don't sell my tools. But with Christmas around the corner and the fact that I have no use for 1" drive stuff, I'll make this one exception. I have 1 Snap On IMD643 shallow impact socket. It's 1" drive, 2" 12 point. Here's the closest I could find on the Snap On site...

Broken Milwaukee drill - What to do with it?

A year or more back I was drilling a hole and the shaft just snapped on my Milwaukee 1/2" drill. It's just been sitting here since then. Is there any fixing this, or is it trash? Not sure about warranty, I inherited it from my Dad, not sure how old it is.
