So Friday morning the Snap On truck rolls up to my shop. I get on the truck with the sole intention of making a payment and that's all.
As I'm standing there, waiting for my coworker to finish his transaction, I'm looking at this shop thermometer sitting on the dash area of the truck next to an oversized cut-away display of a dead blow hammer.
I ask about the thermometer and end up buying it, I tell him that I'm starting to gather up stuff to decorate my new garage and he tells me "Take this hammer and hang it on your wall." He hands me the hammer, I thank him and walk back to work, carrying this thing with a huge grin on my face.

Here is my new thermometer

Promotional items are cool.
I have the thermometer, my dealer gave it to me, it is nice hangs next to my 24hr clock. It helps if you buy a couple of tool boxes from him.
Did mention I wanted a mat for christmas lets see if that pans out.

I'm lucky if my Snap-on dealer gives me anything. I just bought $1200 in wrenches and he gave me a $22 pocket flashlight.

Wow that *****. I know they don't have to give you anything for free, but spending that much for spanners and be given a (cheap-for-all-we-know-made-in-china) flashlight is kinda.... gay.

I'd say your dealer either likes you or you have already paid for the hammer many times over.

How are you going to hang that thing on the wall ?

It shows that he appreciates you as a customer and he realizes that what he did probably earned your business for years to come.....

That's pretty cool. You have an appreciative dealer. I don't have much in the way of decoration in my garage, I really don't have tha wallspace for it, but I do have Bud stuff in my bar. I don't do "collectibles" so much. I tend to like the promotional items that actually get used in bars, like clocks with pricing displays, cash register lights, coaster holders and the like. Prefererrably older stuff...

I guess he likes me then, because I have only spent a fraction of what my coworkers have spent. I haven't spent too much because I already have most everything that I need.
I keep my balance low or paid off, while my coworkers are several thousand dollars in debt with him.

I'm not sure yet how I will hang it. He suggested that I just run a screw through the handle and screw it to the wall, but I will probably hang it by hooks or something because I wouldn't want to put holes in it.

I spent a ton of $$$ with Snap-On guys when I was a body tech and never got anything. I guess its the luck of the draw.

How much was the thermometer? How much are you paying in interest over the life of your installment plan?

You paid for that hammer one way or another.

Not always, my dealer does not use snap on credit he uses what is called the truck account. I pay no interest on anything I charge.
Probably the best part is I get to roam the truck, since he has been a dealer for over 30 years he has stuff that has been discontinued. Getting the privilege of searching through toolbox drawers is great, keep finding early black handled stuff. Priceless

One of the surprises was I ordered swivel wheels for my new cart so I can have 4 swivel wheel for better movement in small space, and they were only $39 each cheaper than HF and much better quality.

Interest is only charged when it's using the Snap-on account, truck accounts do not acrrue interest just as the previous posted stated.

Yeah I only charge to the truck account, no interest, same as cash. My balance is never more than $500 and I pay it off promptly.
He also charges less than list price on most everything I've bought, like the FLF80 ratchet, retails for $117, I bought it for $85.
The thermometer was $30 btw

I am probably opening a can of worms but is the thermometer made in the USA?
