Currently at $100 for the Baldor 7" grinder

    To Baldor or not?

It is indeed a Multitool attachment. I salvaged it from another machine and didn't have the bracket for the grinder bell so I made my own. I also increased the belt size to 2x42 (from the usual 2x36) as I already stocked that size belt.

    To Baldor or not?

That looks like the Baldor 7307 I had at work. I added a belt grinder adapter and it was about the best setup I ever had. Belt changes took less than 20 seconds, and it ran smooth as silk. I would offer a little bit less than $150 as it is missing a few parts and the left side guard is broken so...

Craftsman dual shaft motor Klixon thermal switch

    I wouldn't bother. I'd bypass it.

    Thoughts on angle grinders?

I have a German-made 5" Metabo with the quick change nut and it barely gets warm after long sessions with a cup brush. It's a great grinder. I also have a 5" Bosch that cost over $200 so I assume it's higher end. It's also very good, especially the speed control, but the Metabo runs smoother.

Wilton 101033 vise color and date?

The traditional hammered color is Verde Green, but good luck finding it. If you can get it to bare metal, a simple oil finish is good because there are no hidden flaws and it sells better.

Time for a new bench grinder me thinks

Not sure if this is considered trolling, but I can't see why anyone would invest in a new bench grinder. A used grinder made in Taiwan (not China), much like those sold by Dayton, would be a great basis for a BELT GRINDER. Having used and built numerous belt grinders over the past 20 years I...

Time for a new bench grinder me thinks

It would help if we knew the op's location. It doesn't seem plausible that decent used grinders are listed at $1000 or that gas is currently $6/gallon. Is this AK or HI?

    Ratchet for a Friend

I have a bunch of ratchets, including Wright/Williams/Snap-On/CM Slim (very nice feel)/Stanley etc. I prefer a Proto flex head for most jobs. Made in France and a pleasure to use. https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Flex-Head-Ratchet-17-3/dp/B002FCHC2K/?tag=atomicindus08-20 That said, if someone...

    Wire wheel for bench grinder

I think 3/4" width is too big for that grinder. The wire wheel will inevitably grow wider in use and tends to scrape the guard. Even if you remove the guard, as I recommend, a narrower brush performs better for most applications. And if you remove the guard you could use a larger diameter wheel...

Replacing my Craftsman Screwdrivers-Which ones should I look at as replacements?

I have a birthday coming up and I treated myself to another set of screwdrivers: Milwaukee 10pc for $20. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-Combination-Screwdriver-Set-10-Piece-48-22-2710/302174758 I already have Wiha and Wera, some Kleins, old Stanley 100-series (awesome), plus CM "diamond...

    Fluke meters…Advice needed

Agreed. I have a couple of original 70-series meters that still work fine, but I like my 87 the best. It feels and functions like a quality tool.

Replace jaws on Reed 106 vise

My old Reed had cast-in jaws with big chunks missing. I had my buddy fill the chips with a TIG welder. The OP's jaws can be cleaned up with an angle grinder. Or just put on some soft jaw covers.

Best "all around" general table saw blade

Agreed. Freud Diablo is a decent aftermarket blade and lasts a long time. For general TS use, this would work fine: https://www.amazon.com/Diablo-General-Purpose-Blade-Wood/dp/B00008WQ2W/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Best Ratcheting Screwdriver? New to the forum

Surprisingly I was able to remove the clip and spray the parts with Sea Foam Deep Creep---got it back together and it works great! Note that you need a good quality tweezer to do the job. I found a medical grade tweezer with carbide serrated tips and they don't slip like most anything else I had...
