I recently bought a Makita it’s lightweight and easier on my injured hands,best thing I’ve bought in ages. I’ve been drilling,driving in screws,using wire brushes etc.batterys last a long time. All the builders around my way use Makita which influenced my decision.

I got this vice today for 6 quid in a S/h shop it’s a Record no1. It looks beat up but it’s smooth to operate,these don’t need any fancy adjustments. There was another Record no1 for £15 in good order but I like refurbishing when I can. Probably start on it tommorow.

Interesting,was I the only one thinking the title was something to do with John le Carré and you where building a mini MI5 building?

Thanks I don’t know where garden came from,not my choice :) Changed it i did put garden because that’s where my shed is my gardens in England though,my mistake misunderstood the question.

Some great tools, I love using the old stuff. Personally I prefer those old snap on screwdriver handles. Any more photos?

Have you looked at Teng Tools,that’s if you get them over your side?

Here it is the day it arrived,note the penknife as well it’s a very old English Sheffield made when we still produced good blades. Not a big vice but does the job.

I have 2 the first one I bought this year is a Paramo. They started making vices in WW2 in case the German bombing put out the Record factory. It’s quite old and in lovely condition.
