I did a search and couldn't find any mention of using bookmarks on this forum. I also can't find a way to set a bookmark on particular threads within the forum. It would be a really nice feature to more easily follow the threads of interest. Maybe a feature for $50 paying members (new Alliance...

Why does everyone use a concrete slab?

we all waste enough money each year to pour a garage concrete slab...whether it's on cigarettes, cokes, junk fast food, fuel for that oversized truck you don't need, or whatever...i priced a new slab for my 16x20 garage. I'm gonna be broke...a good slab that will last the rest of my life is...

    The economy and theft/security

Losing your stuff to robbery is so much more painful when they get away with it. My father-in-law is the great white deer slayer of Arkansas and I have a two year old...ideas based upon that. Gonna install deer hunter motion sensor cameras that email pics to me with a sign that says..."you...

thoughts on the new line of Bosch electric compressors?

Not much interest on this thread for sure. The original link doesn't work, so here's my link with a specific question on this particular Bosch electric air compressor...This compressor seems very small for using with a nail gun or other air tools. Is there something about this compressor that...

    Uplugging everything when done?

Got a new Bosch table saw. Used it a few times and piddled with the blade alignment etc. I was putting the safety guard back on and had all 10 fingers on the blade....THEN, my two year old walked up behind me and flipped the power switch ON. I still have all ten fingers...because I had unplugged...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

you guys should look around for old bowling alleys. my brother and I got tons of it...mostly used for interior stairs, workbenches, etc. by now. i have another section that is even thicker but it's so narrow (17 inches) so it's not much use unless i cut in half and put together for double width...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

Need some advice...I am going to use the maple bowling alley butcher block as a workbench. I intend to mount a vise to the end corner. Do you guys think I need a back plate on the underside of the workbench to provide additional strength and avoid separation of boards?

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

question of value and quality...has anyone on this forum ever actually needed the more massive jaw surface of a C series(as mentioned in the few recent posts) or is it just the idea of having more?

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

It is truly amazing what the trained eye can see vs. the untrained eye. I didn't see the jaw "beefyness" of the C series until you guys mentioned it. Now it jumps out into my face. Good info...much appreciated...but the Tradesman is so much more aesthetic...curvy lines...you know...why own...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

Mjozefow, thanks for the reply. looking at the Wilton Tradesman series 1700 series vs Wilton Combination C- series, I couldn't see so much reason for the C series to cost so much more. Narrower jaws, but wider pipe clamps...then noticed close to twice the weight. do you think the much higher...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

Is there a difference in a "tradesman" vs "machinist" vise, or is tradesman just a Wilton brand name? thanks
