My neighbor who is a plumber tells me this is a 'carrier'. Internet search 'plumbing carrier' leads me to carriers associated with wall mounted urinals and toilets. I am just installing a wall-mounted faucet in the garage. What is the proper name for this?

This hammer belonged to my grandfather. His house in Chalmette was destroyed (flooded) by Hurricane Katrina, but luckily several items where salvaged when he moved to Belle Chase. He passed away late 2016 (at the age of 100!), and my father (and aunt) are getting around to settling his estate...
