    Offsetting or centering door?

I'm leaning that way now... I think I would get annoyed having to walk all the way around the shop just to get in and out. That's what i'm thinking. I didn't mention man door on the back wall because i'm putting one in period lol. Easier access to my shed in the back yard and another way...

    Offsetting or centering door?

I've been pondering this for awhile... the size will be 20x30x12. It will have a 2 post lift. Yes a larger size shop would be better but I have to work with what I got here. Would it be better to center the door/2 post to have equal space on all sides or off set to have a larger space off to...

Why are driveway culverts so narrow?

I put a second driveway in at my house for the future garage and I installed a 40' culvert :D That driveway is wider than the private road next door lol.

Electric Garage Heaters - Educate me

I used this one in my insulated shop that was 700sqft 12' walls. Worked great and heated quickly. I wouldn't run it all winter long though. I will be using it in my new shop as an aide to a mini split when it is very cold...

A nice small shop or a bare bones large shop?

Not to mention I think I would be more productive and motivated. Working on #57 crushed in the elements is neither of those things. lol From what i've found out, one or any number of buildings you wish can add up to the square footage of the primary structure on the property. I can always...

A nice small shop or a bare bones large shop?

3 years in this house and it's finally time to get a garage/shop built. I'm on a 1ac lot in Northern VA and along with budget restrictions I also have square footage restrictions. My house is 1102sqft and my existing shed is 256sqft. Which according to local accessory structure ordinances...

Pressure washer - nozzle with soap dispenser

Applying the detergent on with more pressure is not the solution. Let the soap work then rinse with a higher pressure when needed. I think what you are asking for is a foamer?

I bought the newer gray one back in September I think. It has been great. I've done control arm bushings on it, ball joints, wheel bearings etc

Update. USDA put the rubber stamp on the loan (that was the longest 4 days ever). Closing date is set for the 28th! After we get settled in the planning process starts on the garage :)

Finally trying to buy our first home

Sorry for not updating! So the first house we put an offer on we lost out on. They accepted another offer. Pretty disappointing considering the house made the fiancee happy and the garages made me happy. Almost 1200sqft worth of garage. The house was $2k over our budget though. About a week...

What do you think my options are? (Building a garage)

The current shop i'm renting (mainly for my small biz use) is 700sqft. I would be fine with that size for now. This house is our starter home. No long term plans for it. The next house I plan on going for a BIG garage with at least 5 acres or more. My ideal plan (if I can do it) is put in the...

Yeah it stinks. It's one "entrance" and they split off.

What do you think my options are? (Building a garage)

No HOA :) I've been doing hours of reading the local code. It's a mostly rural county and judging from whats online they are pretty lenient. BUT I don't know what else fine print they may have or what may be considered "common knowledge" Good call. I'm going to check with my insurance lady...

What do you think my options are? (Building a garage)

Well the end of the driveway was a thought, however i'd need to take down a few trees. The only other negative to this house is it's a shared driveway. I was thinking possibly putting the garage on the other side of the house and put another driveway in for it. That would give me more driveway...

What do you think my options are? (Building a garage)

We are closing on our first house at the end of the month. Unfortunately it didn't have an existing garage. However, it checked off all the other boxes and it was way under our max budget. So we're going to try to build a garage. Based on local code if I tear down the existing shed I can go up...

Finally trying to buy our first home

First of all, this process *****. We now know why you shouldn't fall in love with a property. Found one that has everything we need and there's another offer on it. We may know the fate tonight. We're crossing our fingers and toes. If and when something comes through I can't wait to post my...
