Garage ceiling insulation and possibly walls

You're in Austin. You telling me you don't think an uninsulated metal garage door facing South would be your biggest contributor to heat gain?

How a 20 minutes jobs turns into 2 hours

I hear ya bro. Everyone laughs at me with my old lawn equipment and appliances. I just keep coming up with creative ways to keep things going and take it as a personal defeat if I have to give up on something. Currently working on a redo of my 18 year-old grill because I know I can get a few...

Garage ceiling insulation and possibly walls

You said you disagree then conclude exactly the same thing. I said his best bang for buck is the ceiling. Maybe you are saying that you disagree with the garage door being the single biggest contributor to heat. I live in the Southeast and I have two homes on the same street (one is a...

New shed - plywood floor protection

I'm as picky as the next guy but it's a shed floor. Mine has been in place for 16 years with nothing on it and it looks fine. a spot or two where the lawnmower leaked a little oil but that's it. Depending on climate and installation, I'd actually be worried about completely sealing it as I...

    Eave Overhang Length?

Look dude, if you can't see why someone would not want ice dams on their roof, then you are either nuts or just being argumentative. You live in Arkansas and just said yourself that there are times when you get ice on the roof. The whole thing about an ice dam is that it forms at a cold spot...

    Eave Overhang Length?

Not so much an issue with closed soffits. Most homes in the south will have vented soffits to keep roof decks and attics cooler. If you happen to have vented soffit and large overhangs where it gets properly cold, ice damming can be a real issue. OP is in Texas where it gets hot but also cold...
