Save That Classic Garage aka "STC Garage"

I added some STC decals after the first coat, I think it came out pretty nice. The crappy phone camera doesn't do it justice, i'm going to using a real camera soon to take the progress pics.

So I enlisted my mom help me with the staining of the bench top (she restores antiques so knows how create these great finishes). First was to stain it, I choose a nice dark brown, then I put 3 coats of poly urethane to protect it, sanding in between coats.

On storing valuable vintage car parts

Air is the enemy, how about a large vacuum sealer like is used for fish and other foods? I'm sure they make something large enough to fit most parts.

So I bought this really nice Reel Craft 50 foot hose reel set up on CL about 2 years ago, brand new. Finally going to put it to use and mounted it up. I used the old hockey puck trick on the feet of the 60 gallon compressor I also scored on CL.

Sounds bitching, although I do want a carb set up 510 at some point, this one will start off with a SR20DET from a S15 with a 6 speed, its also 250hp stock. With 250hp and 2000 lb weight I'm going to spend the bulk of the $$ on suspension and brakes, as the power should be sufficient to start...

So made a cut out for the maxjax to recess it a bit and mounted the pump assembly on the wall behind it. Most likely I'm going to run the hydraulic hose for the west side MAXJAX up and over along the ceiling.

So the east wall will have about 16 feet of bench top, 24 inch deep. I went with 3/4 maple plywood for the top, the framing was done with 2x4's. I made a little jig so I could mount the support ties, made it a lot easier to get them level. I also positioned the east side MAXJAX post. Behind it I...

So first I ran some new lighting, basically 4 fixtures, 2 have 3 T8 bulbs, one has 2 T8 bulbs and 1 has 2 8 foot bulbs, the lights have their own breaker. I also mounted and outlet on the ceiling in case I want to add some hanging retractable lights in the future.
