PALMAC anyone bought tools from them?

Thanks for the info. I currently have ~ $184 in my cart (Koken and Wera) and the coupon code is removing less than $1.00. I experimented in a different browser and cart. Most items were "not eligible" for the discount, including the new 72T ratchet. Oddly it seems this just changed within...

PALMAC anyone bought tools from them?

Has anyone purchased from Palmac lately and can comment on lead times for Koken items that do not show as on hand? Also, do they wait for all items to be on hand before shipping, or split up into multiple shipments (on hand vs those with a lead time)? They're the only seller I can find who has...

    Koken 3755 3/8" Ratchet Adapter

I bought this a few years ago off of Rakuten but have never used. $40 shipped in the US. Paypal only, PM if interested before I list on an auction site.

Here's a brass cleaning rod I upgraded using a PB Swiss 8215.A SwissGrip handle. The rod is 6" from Dewey, model 6-LB.

Anyone have these Gedore soft caps for their Engineers hammer? They appear to be discontinued, but I did find them for sale on Zoro. I'd be interested in your feedback. Thanks!

    Tools of Japan

Thank you to all to that replied. I contacted the seller and it appears this one socket is NOS. Still not sure what date code the 3K corresponds to. If this is indeed 10+ years old, Koken has made numerous small changes (and improvements) to the construction / finish.

Agreed, although I purchased from a long term eBay seller with exceptionally strong feedback which should carry some weight.

100% agree. I decided to check some dimensions with my Mitutoyo calipers to compare against the Koken spec sheet, and now I'm even more suspect. Although I would expect some manufacturing variation vs the stated specs, I can point to more than a half dozen small construction differences...

    Tools of Japan

I have a question for any Koken experts out there. I purchased a few nut grip sockets off eBay to expand my assortment. They arrived today, and I immediately noticed one of them looked different. The finish was not very good (with a few small nicks), has a much higher polish and different...

Portasol butane torch, made in Ireland. Just arrived today, so I have yet to use it. A little pricey for what it is (~ $40 USD). Very quick shipping from Tooltopia. Just 2 days to arrive.

I did a little workbench cleanup today and thought I'd share a picture of some of my favorite and most used hand tools. From top to bottom: (1) Felo Phillips #0 screwdriver. I also have some micro screwdrivers from Wiha and Wera, but I tend to go for the Felo more often. A great value...

    Anyone order from tooldiscounter.com

Steer clear of tooldiscounter.com It took them 3 weeks to ship an "in stock" item. I contacted them twice via e mail and they never responded to either. I will never purchase from them again.

I'm headed to Singapore and Ho Chi Minh in a few days. Does anyone know of any shops that sell Japanese tools (or PB Swiss, etc) in either city? I did some Google searching and found several tool shops in Singapore, just not sure if they'll carry any of the "good stuff". Thanks, Eric

    Tools from the old world

Can anyone recommend a moderately priced 3/8" torque wrench? Preferably not made in China. I've been looking at the Tohnichi QL-MH and newer Wera models. Something with a range of ~ 10-50Nm is about right. Both the Tohnichi and Wera seem very nice, but are also a little pricey. I will not...

    Tools of Japan

Unfortunately I do not travel to Japan, but I just returned from another trip to Hong Kong (the 3rd time this year). Each time I go, I seek out Japanese hand tools as well as unique or hard to find items. This trip I had some more time to explore, so I wanted to share some locations for others...

    Tools of Japan

I just returned from a trip to Hong Kong and picked up a couple of small items. I searched long and hard for Japanese tools shops in Hong Kong and the best place I found was a place called Chup Kee Tools & Hardwares. They had a pretty good selection of Koken and prices were quite reasonable...

For those that have the Koken magnetic socket rails, can you confirm if they are made in Japan? Also, is it possible to mix and match both 1/4" and 3/8" on the same rail (with the correctly sized clips)?
