    The LAG BOLT "Thread"

Those are some heavy duty shelf brackets you got there! Are the fabricated or purchased? How wide is your shelf?

    The LAG BOLT "Thread"

See, I have no idea what you are talking about here lol. Do you mean fasten one 8' length of 2x4 to the back wall into the studs and then another 8' length screwed parallel over top which will support the joist hangers, etc? For the open non-wall corner, I plan on fastening a 4' strip of angle...

    The LAG BOLT "Thread"

Thanks guys, lots of great information so far! The loft/shelf I will be constructing will be primarily from 2x4 lumber and at a dimension of roughly 3'4" x 8'. The loft will house items such as tires, shopvac, push mower and other light items. I am a bit nervous to use lag bolts as I definitely...

    The LAG BOLT "Thread"

I performed a search and was very surpised to see that there were no discussions on the usage of Lag Bolts or Lag Screws. I guess this is self explanatory, however, not so much for newbies such as myself ;) I am in the midst of building a garage storage loft abd am torn between using 4” wood...

Building a Garage Storage Loft - HELP!

Nice job there! How did you fasten your 2x4's to the ceiling? From the initial photo it looks like you use angle brackets on each. If so, did you find this was this sufficient enough to handle the load?

Building a Garage Storage Loft - HELP!

So I have decided to pursue this project using 2x4 lumber and making the width of the overhead storage approx 3’ x 8’ long. I plan on supporting the open / unsupported corner with angle iron fastened to the ceiling spanning 3 or 4 joists (bottom chord 2x4 per photo in first post) and then a...

    Any Painted Workbenches?

I am looking for some inspiration to paint my recently finished wooden workbench, framed out of 2x4's and hardboard for the work surface. I was thinking along the lines of a dark gray or black base...ala gladiator. Has anyone painted theirs? Or keep it natural? )

Building a Garage Storage Loft - HELP!

Thanks Motofixxer. I am intrigued by the 4x4 or 2x4 across the roof trusses. What would you recommend to support the loft after this step? A 2x4 lag bolted into the 4x4 top and bottom into the loft? What do you think of my idea to use heavy duty metal bracing (similar to garage door opener...
