    Pole vs Stick built

Well, i've enjoyed reading the comments. I'll have to say though that so far it's about as clear as mud. Lol. I was hoping there was a more clear cut answer, but there seems to be mixed feelings. If I could have a pole barn built and only spend about 1500 or so on labor putting the building up...

    Pole vs Stick built

That's a neat concept mtwaterguy. I'm surprised I haven't seen that technique. Can't say that I have seen anybody do that on here either. Of course I can't say that I have looked at every build either.

    Pole vs Stick built

Oops. I forgot to put the dimensions in my post. I'm planning on a 28x36. So that would put it around 1008 sq ft. As far as my intentions for use, I plan on doing some collision repair and playing with hot rods. So I do want it finished out nice and to be able to work in it during the winter...

    Pole vs Stick built

I have been going back and forth on which way to go on my garage and thought I would ask opinions on here. I need to check to see if pole barns are acceptable in my area, but I would imagine I wouldn't have any problems. If I go stick built we would do all the work ourselves. I would like to...

    30 x 40 Garage build

That's looking nice. That had to be frustrating getting rid of the rocks. Makes me appreciate my rock free yard. What size are your garage doors? Looks like it's going to be a nice size building to work in. Keep the pics coming.

    30 x 40 garage start....

I didn't realize the metal roofing was that expensive!! I was planning on doing mine with metal, but I may be shingling it now. At least I can do that myself. Garage is looking good though. Makes me jealous. Had to work on my truck in driveway last night....then it got dark. :(

Newbie here with lots of pics

Thanks for the reply. Your garage has turned out great. Hopefully I'll be getting started on a garage similar to yours sometime this fall. Love the Torino. They are neat looking cars.

Newbie here with lots of pics

I know this is an old post, but I just now found it and it's exactly what I'm hoping to build. I would love to have mine setup just like yours with the bigger door on one side and the smaller door next to it. My question is (if you don't mind my asking, and if your still on GJ) how much did you...

    vinyl siding vs metal

I agree with the two tone idea. I had already been thinking that. If I can afford it and it works out, here's what I would like mine to look like...http://blitzbuilders.com/ I think the garage on their home page is very nice looking. I love the colors too. So how does Hardi board compare in...

    vinyl siding vs metal

Hhhmmmm......Some good comments. Well to answer a couple questions, I don't live in a rural area, but I don't live in a high end neogborhood either. Most of these houses in this subdivision are on a 1/4 acre lot and mine just happens to sit on a full acre. It's also a older neighborhood and some...

    vinyl siding vs metal

I'm hoping to start building a garage come spring time and I'm trying to get some rough ideas in my head of cost and what i can plan for. One of the things is finishing the outside. That'll porbably be one of the few things I'll have contracted out instead of doing myself. My question is, is...

Finally making some progress on my 3 car garage.

Cool looking garage. What are your dimensions? I'm hoping to build one something similar to yours with the size garage doors you have and the extra space off to the left side. Lets see some more pictures!!

Finally Building My Detached Garage, Build Thread

If you don't mind my asking, how much is All-Rite charging you a yard for concrete? I'm should be in the planning part of building a garage here in a couple months. I just thought it might be nice to get an idea of what I would spend on mine when I get around to actually starting on it.

Finally Building My Detached Garage, Build Thread

Sounds like a cool build. So where are you in northern Ky? I live in Erlanger. Just thought it was kind of cool to see somebody on here so close. I plan on starting a garage myself this fall or spring. But it will have to wait till the remodeling is done.

Comparing Pole barn floor/stick built floor

I guess what I'm asking about is comparing the structural part ot the two different styles of building. With a pole barn there is no footer or foundation, so would that make the floor more susceptible to cracking and possible floor shifting? Seems like a stick built garage built on a good...

Comparing Pole barn floor/stick built floor

I have a question about pouring the slab. When you stick build a building, you dig a footer and lay a block foundation or pour it, and then pour the slab. After looking at pole barns, it looks like the floor is poured after the building is built and there is no foundation? Or is there other...
