    Service upsell?

That makes more sense. I was under the impression that they were all running double platinum or iridium plugs these days. Shows you how long it's been since I was wrenching on things with spark plugs! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    1/2" HF Earthquake Power?

Rig one of those 12V accessory plug powered compressors to an impact and tell me how well it works. It can generate the pressure required, but will drop to nothing as soon as you pull the trigger. Why? Not enough flow. A compressor has to be able to generate enough flow (CFM) or it can't...

    Service upsell?

You're kidding, right? Are they running a standard plug or something? Last time I sold a set of plugs for a new "hemi" ( many moons ago when I worked in auto parts) they spec'd a Champion double platinum as the OE plug, to the tune of about $180 for the set. I always thought the point was...

    1/2" HF Earthquake Power?

Compressor is low on CFM, and the long ( probably 3/8 hose ) isn't helping with the large pressure drop. Gun should handle those lugs with ease. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What do you all put into the deep tall lower right drawer of your HF 56" box?

Re: What do you all put into the deep tall lower right drawer of your HF 56" box? I've always put spray cleaners, sealants, antisieze, assembly lube, etc in the deep drawer of my boxes. Unless you have boxes that fit neatly in that space, it's a bit awkward for anything else. Sent from...

    M18 FUEL thoughts

Probably not. I use my M18 3/8" impact more than any other impact I have, and even tearing down engines have a hard time draining the battery completely in 2 11hr days. The second battery recharges from totally dead in just a couple of hours, so unless you are using it to do some tool...

Tool cleaning solvent that won't eat paint

Loctite penetrating oil we use at work. Takes the oil and grease off my soft handled stuff without removing paint. Wouldn't recommend PB Blaster due to the smell. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    Using a grease gun

The small jaws built in to the nozzle of the grease gun are meant to grab the fitting while under pressure, so as long as you have a good tip it should hold on while you pump with both hands. Long hoses do help tremendously, so investing in an extension may be a good idea. Unless you drive...

    Grease gun usage on cars?

For most vehicles, greasable components are pointless, as they will be one more thing that doesn't get serviced. Hence the reason why most new vehicles have sealed suspension and steering components, sealed u-joints, etc. Vehicles that see a lot off off-road use, or things like boat trailers...

    Best value in air hammer?

I have one of the Blue Point hammers as well. It works well for my purposes, but hasn't replaced a punch and 4lb hand sledge yet. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

    3/4 impact torque specs

There certainly are some shenanigans going on with the specs on newer guns, but as with automobile engines, the peak numbers don't tell the whole story. One of my coworkers bought a 2235ti and thought he was going to zip out some M30 bolts torqued to about 1300 ftlbs. Nope, no amount of...

Punch & Chisel Sets, should everyone possess one?

I couldn't agree more. Pin punches have to fit properly and hold their shape or you will inevitably screw something up. Starret are some of the best. The CAT branded sets I use are are Mayhew, which are reasonably priced for a good quality American set. Not something I would use gunsmithing...

Punch & Chisel Sets, should everyone possess one?

Yeah, double time on a Sunday makes it a bit easier to handle. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

I'm in North Louisiana, so Louisiana CAT. At work today, as a matter of fact. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Punch & Chisel Sets, should everyone possess one?

Indeed I do! Didn't realize the shipping crates were so distinctive. Of course, the CAT branded punch and chisel sets didn't do anything to dissuade you, lol. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Good Uses for 1" and 3/4" Sockets & Ratchets?

That's why I'm glad we have a cylinder bench at work. Clamp the jaws on the nut, hook a small cylinder to the torque head, and it'll push 20 or 25 thousand foot pounds if need be. You may have found use for this : 1.5" drive impactool, for when **** gets really hairy. Hook up a 1" air line...

    3/4 drive impact socket sizes

I deal with big diesel and NG engines and heavy equipment almost exclusively, and can think of no instance where a deep well 3/4" drive socket was required, with the exception of the 3/4 x 3/4 deep 12 point socket required for C-15/16/18 headbolts, but that is a specialty socket. I do...

old pry par, looks home made?

Looks like it's made from a piece of sucker rod, which is generally good quality steel.

    Gasket scrapper warranty question

It's a tool with an edge, not unlike a chisel or a knife. The edge has the be maintained or it becomes useless. Periodic sharpening is expected, and wouldn't void the warranty.
