    bottle jack safety question

I'll change tires with only a jack, but that's it. NEVER put any piece of your body that you want to keep under a car supported only by a jack. Ever. But you're okay just to change a tire. There is no need to go under. Brakes? no, get a jackstand.

    Murmansk Garages

It's funny. Garages with tools, old cars and naked women pics. It seems that no matter what country you are in these things are all common. Maybe that's the secret to world peace. Instead of the troops stalking terrorists and killing them, they just need to whip out a ******* and say 'look at...

    How often do you use...

I have the same situation with ratcheting wrenches. There have only been a couple of times when my life would've been better had I owned a set. But, that's the way tools are. There is something rewarding about reaching into the toolbox and finding that perfect tool to accomplish the job.

Another vehicle falls of a lift

Back in high school auto class some of the guys were doing an oil change on the Principals van on a lift just like that. For whatever reason, the vehicle was slightly off-center and went off the side of the lift, crushing a toolbox underneath it. Cars do fall off lifts from time to time. Poop...

Controlling Fluids in your shop (coolant, oil, etc)

Wow. One of those would certainly qualify you for having 'every possible tool under the sun' lol.

    Who makes husky boxes?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Husky and craftsman are made by the same company. We had a new Home Depot open here, and some of the wrench sets they received were Craftsman. It could be a coincidence though. I beleive Craftsman are now made by Danaher. There have been acquisitions and mergers...

Controlling Fluids in your shop (coolant, oil, etc)

I changed the coolant in my Mustang today, and as expected, made a HUGE mess of my garage. You know how it is, the odd dribble here, spill over there, it runs behind the lawnmower, etc, etc. I'd love to hear what others do to control their used fluids in their shops. What do you use for used...

Who has the coolest clock in their garage? Not Me! Ideas?

I've got an old brake rotor than I keep meaning to turn into a clock. But otherwise I've got nothing, lol.

    Designing a moveable/stationary table

I have a ridgid table saw that is on wheels. I step down on the pedal and the wheels lock into place and I can wheel it around. Then, click the lock, and the table drops onto the ground again. If you have a HD nearby, check it out.

    Looking for a pic

A couple weeks ago I saw on this site a picture of a garage in which the owner was using the second floor as a wood shop. He had a set of double doors on the second floor, and a beam/crane that he could send outside to lift materials into/out of his shop. I've searched for every term I could...

    Lifting a garage?

It's trusses, with a top plate. Interior is completely unfinished - has only some basic wiring with open stud walls. No water, or heat. I do have a concrete pad behind some of the garage, so I'd have to dig that up to regrade. I think raising the garage would be the best, because I would like...

    Lifting a garage?

Wow, that drawing is exactly what my situation is. The house is where the retaining wall is in the above picture, so the ground slopes away from the house, towards the garage. Perhaps a more serious regrading is what is required though.hmmm

    Lifting a garage?

I once heard a story about someone who bought a van that would no longer fit in their garage, so they stuck a bunch of jackalls around the perimeter, lifted the entire garage up a foot, and build a stud wall underneath for clearance. (it was actually my father-in-law,lol) I have a small 24x24...
