    Unistrut hoist

BTW the sound that thing makes when you pull it across the room is nothing short of magnificent thunder. It's almost worth doing this or what @tarmy did just for that.

    Unistrut hoist

I got this roller and hoist from HF (Or Northern Tool?) about 20 years ago and it's served me with awesomeness. I was lucky to have a giant beam across the ceiling of my garage, so it was only a small investment. I've lifted up to 1500 lb with this on several occasions. It's 2-ton rated everything.

Blue box or red? Same for @LXCam. I only got red coz the blue was another week's wait.

Took a peek inside my 60 Gallon compressor, should I be worried?

@wyb2 right, good points. The mild acidity of water attacks Fe to form Fe2+, which then oxidizes in air to Fe3+ (as Fe2O3, or rust). But the damage is done in the first step. It must be that the water becomes less and less acidic as hydrogen is liberated.

    Ryobi chop saw

@gahrajmahal Thank you for that! I have made such contraptions for my table saw for wood, it's an interesting idea. I might be able to get away with a simple piece of angle iron and mount it forward a little so its at the middle of the disk. (Then just be careful not to cut right through the...

Took a peek inside my 60 Gallon compressor, should I be worried?

Anyone know why they don't seem to rust through in like 3 months? I mean its always damp if not actually wet inside. I wonder if its because of some build up of something in the water that prevents it from continually oxidizing the metal further. Maybe it turns basic once it's sat there for a...

    Ryobi chop saw

Thank you @Beerhippie that's an interesting report. I appreciate you. I'm good for now as the chop saw is working out fine and I can get 3 whole test peices out of a hex bit. The disk is a little thick but it works and I can hold it from flying ok. I will get a diamond cutoff some time, as...

What works like PB Blaster but smells better?

I remember to this day when I opened my first bottle of mobil 1 gear oil - I was expecting it to have zero smell, being fully synthetic and all. But no, it smelled just the same. Now I use it to protect my impact sockets, which are in plastic cases, and whenever I open them that awesome...

    Ryobi chop saw

Awesome! Do you have any old S2 bits you could cut? Would be great to hear how it goes.

    Ryobi chop saw

How do the above compare with the diamond cutoff blades? For safety at least the steel disk isn't gonna shatter. (I cut concrete with a 9-inch diamond blade on a huge dewalt ag and its always rock solid)

    Ryobi chop saw

Nice. The width is 3/64" (1.2mm), that's incredibly thin! I'll get some of these one day. Thx

Worse country for manufacturing hand tools

I've got a set of offset ring wrenches from Yugoslavia from the 1980s. They are fantastic. From Tang Tools.

    Favorite Nitrile Gloves?

I got a box of bright HV orange nitrile gloves, and I was painting outside with them on and they did their job, but they were such a glare in the sun that it bothered me a ton, enough to buy a box of the black ones. Much better - though they do get a lot hotter.

1/4" socket drive metric hex set

@dscheidt with that shipping envelope I'd be worried my UPS driver would be off with that thing. I wish they would ship in plain packaging

    Ryobi chop saw

Well it was amusing to me so let me relay my attempts: I was trying to cut a 10mm Armstrong hex drive bit: Delta band saw, metal-cutting blade. After about 5 minutes, got about 0.5mm through one of the hexagonal corners before quitting that. I would be standing there till Tuesday before it got...

What works like PB Blaster but smells better?

Agreed. Mobil 1 75W-90 is one of the best smells in the cosmos. Like fresh mulch.
