Input on what your New England garage cost you

IN 2015 I think it would have cost me about 40% less to get my building done. I kick myself for not doing it sooner.

Input on what your New England garage cost you

About $130k to get the building constructed. Pole barn, 40x60 thread on the build is here Just the shell with ceiling tin and blown in insulation was around $70k. No man/garage doors or concrete. Now consider that that $120k was with me doing all site clearing and sitework (including a...

Mini split condenser distance from wall

I used wall brackets because i wanted them up off the ground to keep mice out. I think the clearance is a bit less than 6 Seems to wrk fine with no issues.

Different people call it different things- but the gravel bank I get it from calls it process gravel. I get the 1 1/4" minus. Its a little rough when it first goes down but end up very smooth and hard. Its more durable than the 3/4" minus. The stuff I get is the best driveway material around-...

It's not really much different than the above pics! A sink isn't that interesting lol. I did get my flagpole up though.

So I am gonna say im done. Compressor and air lines are piped in, water got trenched in so I have a sink and hot water now. It was a project for sure. Everything cost way more than i thought it should. But it is pretty amazing to have a heated and air conditioned space like this To work on cars...

Mini splits in a 40x60 pole building

Just fine. One unit was running at a pretty low level and a good drip of condensate coming out. Almost 100 degrees today . Not typical at all- we get one or two days a year like that. Both units running when I got home at 7:00 . But the compressors were not cranked up at all . Now - if I was...

Mini splits in a 40x60 pole building

Ok so first real hot weather test. It's 91 degrees at my house now. Late afternoon (4:30) and the garage has been baking in the sun all day. The side with the two garage doors is the southern exposure so the sun hits them all day. The only units that has actually run today is the one closest to...

Well if I'm welding or cutting something down to protect them- because they are plastic. Not gonna hold up to molten metal . They are holding up surprisingly well to turning tracked equipment on them. I've used the tracked skid steer to move and position a bunch of stuff in there which...

Yes they are the low ambient versions - supposedly good to -15. Noise is now a non issue. One unit was making the noise- also not running quite right. It was a problem (my problem) with the installation. I inadvertently left 350psi of nitrogen in the system when I opened the charge valves to...

Mini splits in a 40x60 pole building

Month two with some really cold nights- about the same - about 1100kw for the month. Was 2 below a couple nights ago. Not typical for CT. Garage stayed warm- so so far no issue with heating capacity.

Probably no cabinets. I put 48 feet of those slat wall panels up to hang stuff on. If I have to hang other stuff. I use super strut that screwed to the horizontal Purlins behind the metal. They are 2 feet apart, so I just stretched the super strut between two of them and it's pretty sturdy...

My thought with two was redundancy. If I have a problem with a condenser there is a second one running. Plus in the winter when one goes into defrost the other one is running. I think you're right on the efficiency part. Most of the multi heads didn't qualify for the tax credit. I suppose if...

Mini splits in a 40x60 pole building

It's one big room. Both mounted on one wall, and I'm not running any other fans. Heat distribution is no issue. I just shot the wall with an IR between the two units and it's the same temperature as the wall across the room. I shot the ceiling it's about 3 degrees warmer than the wall chest...

Mini splits in a 40x60 pole building

It's a garage. My suggestion would be to ignore it. Half the time I'm running something noisy enough to need hearing protection anyhow. Ground mount would eliminate it but then you have a path for mice to get in. 6x6 post would create the same problem.

Yeah it's CT. It's expensive but worth it (IMHO) I'll never live anywhere else. My typical bill for a 2800 square foot house that has no electric heat- oil heat (well really wood since I heat whole house with wood) but a well pump electric dryer and stove/ oven runs about $250/Month in the...
