Plywood on Interior Walls of Pole Barn

Thanks for not being judgmental! ;) So, if you were doing it with the 2x4 strapping, what spacing would you use? 18" or 24"?? I'm with you conceptually . . . the idea of avoiding floppiness is pretty important . . . but my super-smart methodology has me imagining that my 1x4 (or possibly...

Plywood on Interior Walls of Pole Barn

The foam doesn't fill the cavities; it's a couple inches thick. Yes, the concern I had was the old floppiness issue. However I do it, I'll be spending a couple thousand-plus on lumber, and the cost differential wouldn't be that huge. But, money is money, and if I can do it effectively...

Plywood on Interior Walls of Pole Barn

We just finished the closed-cell foaming of our 30' x 48' Cleary pole barn in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. This is a very bad iPhone photo, before we had moved everything back into place: The side walls are 14' high. This building serves as our garage/storage shed and, rather often, the...

    Porcelain on new floor

Just make sure you use a tile with lots of grip. Not to be too much of a Debbie Downer, but my dad had his garage covered in a porcelain tile that appeared to be pretty well textured. Nonetheless, he slipped on it when it was wet, suffering a subdural hematoma and bleeding on the brain. This...

    air T.V. antenna advice

My OTA HDTV picture at my cabin in rural Wisconsin is better than what I get through DirecTV at my home in suburban Chicago (or what I previously got through Comcast).

    Cement work cost

Those prices seem in the ballpark. Don't forget that cost can vary significantly based on the grade of concrete (strength being primarily a function of how much Portland Cement is in the mix, but also the aggregate and other admixtures). Are your bids actually comparing apples to apples?

    Heating a Pole Shed

Mornin', all . . . I'm a Chicago suburbs guy. Over the past couple of years, my wife and I have been working on what we hope will be our retirement home in a couple of years time. I'll spare you the less relevant details, but part of where we're going with all of this involves a 30' x 48'...

    SW Wisconsin Newb

Here's my story: Wifey and I live in the Chicago suburbs and built a cabin in Southwest Wisconsin a couple of years ago. One of the first steps in this multi-year project was the construction of a 30 x 48 pole shed, which we refer to as "the Barn." Most of the focus over the past couple of...
