What causes this type of impact gun anvil failure?

I've heard that using chrome sockets will eventually cause this to happen to an impact gun's anvil, especially when using the smaller drive-sizes (this is a 3/8") for heavy-use. Or is this a defect? I should note that the anvil just broke, I didn't hammer on it for an extended period. Zapped...

    Removing drawers from Classic 96?

I've tried searching but haven't found anything.. I seems that I have something that's fallen behind a drawer, so it won't close. I need to remove it but can't figure out how the drawers come out (but then again I haven't really tried). Does anyone know how it comes out?

What to look for in an air hammer?

Looking at air hammers, What does stroke length and blows per minute (what's that sound like? :dunno:) have to do with performance? Is this an instance where a heavier tools is better?

    Extra-Deep Offset Box Wrenches?

Does know a brand that makes a extra-deep offset wrench? I have a great(!) set of offset box-end wrenches from Hazet, but unfortunately my 24mm isn't deep enough to clear suspension components on the rear of some of the newer Hondas, so I need one that's deeper.. I can't use a socket because...

How big of a box is too big?

Occasionally I see guys here talking about how you can't bring a big toolbox into a small shop that's cramped for space. How big is too big? In other words, if I go with a 72"x24" toolbox, is that too big?

What kind of fitting do you use for your air tools?

I use a swivel fitting like in the picture bellow. Makes it easier to move the cord around. But is there anything better/what do you use?

Shop Report: HF vs Felo 550

Maybe someone will appreciate this. Green is the Harbor Freight #7386. They are supposed to be magnetic, never had the chance to test that. My coworker uses them as pry bars and punches. This is daily (mis)use for the last 2-3 months. Red/Black is the Felo 550 series, used them perhaps a...

Good set of SAE wrenches worth the $$$?

I'll be buying a set of the (ratcheting, flex head) GearWrench wrenches in 1/4-1". I've also considering buying a Wright nonratcheting set in 1/4 to 1-1/4", but I'm not sure it's worth spending the cash for a set of "Just in case" wrenches, since I can't remember the last time I needed a SAE...

Any ford specific tools that are worth buying? I'll be starting as a lube tech, but should move up to tech fairly quick (hopefully).

What's the purpose (other than stabbing annoying coworkers) of the tapered end?

Wrenches for serpentine belts/EZ-Red Part #?

A couple of the mechanics in my shop have the 5-piece EZ Red extra-long, flex-head ratcheting wrenches that work good for doing lots of things, especially serpentine belts. But I can't find the damn part number for the long set with the "socket" box end. Anyone have the part number (and a...

Makita vs SO for 3/8" Electric Impact

Right now I'm trying to decide on a 3/8" Electric Impact, for use removing lug nuts and suspension parts at home and for smaller things while at work (have air at work). I've found the Makita BTW253 for about $370-ish online, but I can get the Snap-On CT4410A through the student program for...
