Recommendations on what to coat my new gate with?

Lol, good question. Morrisville pa. Its not a bad area, i just put it on for piece of mind. Two possible scenarios that i could see happening: Some ******* that has beef with me pouring sugar/ water in it. Or somebody backing into my driveway with a van and pumping out all my oil. In either...

Anybody documented the benefits of filling an undersized gate post?

Unfortunately there was no pipe size i could find that fit tight inside. The ID is 2.635". Ive believe in concrete filling pipes and just wanted to see if any ney sayers wanted to see some hard proof. In this case, i anchored the post to the block wall of house so its plenty sturdy. Used...

    New Garage Build!!

I would personally do just one larger door and go higher. Needs more garage and less chill space. Looks good though! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Recommendations on what to coat my new gate with?

Ive used POR15 before and found it to not adhere very well to the non rusted surfaces. I only have very slight surface rust in spots at this point Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Recommendations on what to coat my new gate with?

Just fabbed up this 7ft high 12'8" wide gate out of mild steel. (Wish i used stainless or galvanized) I used 3 cans of flat black primer and then 3 cans of flat paint and after couple rains, its already starting to rust in a couple spots likes some welds. I was thinking of maybe using Rhino...

Anybody documented the benefits of filling an undersized gate post?

Here is the 12'8" double swing gate i built for anybody that was wondering. I filled both posts with rebar and concrete. What a difference it made! Also secured the latch post to the basement block wall via 3x4 angle iron Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

You are wrong. And i take it you've never concrete filled a post. Many benefits are reaped by doing so Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

Anybody documented the benefits of filling an undersized gate post?

There is not necessarily a "problem". I just want to mame it stronger and stiffer. I also want the added security benefits of the concrete. Not to mention, the gate should have a more "solid" feel when closed. I just figured i would take this time to make a little experiment out of it and...

Anybody documented the benefits of filling an undersized gate post?

The pipe in question is 2 7/8" OD .120 wall. It is 11ft long and embedded 3' 11' deep in concrete. It is the latch post to a 12ft wide gate i built. I wish i went with a thicker wall pipe, since when the gate closes it flexes and vibrates more then i would like.

Anybody documented the benefits of filling an undersized gate post?

I have spent time reading through various threads on here about if filling an undersized small diameter steel gatepost will help increase its overall stiffness, rigidity, and resistance to deflection when horizonal load is applied. (Assuming it is properly anchored to earth and all deflection is...
