    Best Metal Cutting Circular Saw?

Thanks. The basic design was found over at weldingweb and I just added a few tweaks to it. http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?12430-Chop-Saw-Mobile-Workstation&highlight=stand

Anyone know how to tell the old vs. new version of the HF 60 gallon Air Compressor?

I stopped by HF today to see if there was any obvious difference between the one they have on display and mine, which was purchased 5 years ago. I couldn't see any difference, other than the pump now says "Made in Italy" above the oil sight glass, but it's still the same pump. Motor is also the...

    Best Metal Cutting Circular Saw?

14" Morse Metal Devil here. One of my favorite tool purchases. So much nicer than using an abrasive cutting wheel.

And what do you need all those for?

Married for 31 years, she doesn't question my tool collection and I don't ask why she owns over 60 pairs of shoes.

    My 1st Garage Sale Find

Will do. I'm on the west coast an hour north of Los Angeles so shipping would be a bear for most members. I should keep it, I've been thrashing on the same HF vise for 35 years and it might be nice to have something U.S. made. I did buy a Yost a few years ago when they were on sale but it was...

    My 1st Garage Sale Find

lol. I'll give it some thought but I'm not Santa Claus. I found a chart that lists the 93's jaw width at 4.625", opening is 7", and the weight is 64 lbs. It's the bee's knees. Took me years to find a deal on the right one.

    My 1st Garage Sale Find

Found this stamped on the slide and also on the anvil portion. Any idea what it indicates? The only sign of abuse is the swivel lock. It appears to have cracked and then was brazed up. The crack doesn't run through the bottom of the lock. It's going to get some paint. After that, I'm not...

    My 1st Garage Sale Find

(This could have been posted in the 2015 Garage Sale thread but I didn't want to clog that up with too many pictures.) I don't do garage sales. I don't have the time or inclination to rummage through other people's junk. However, on the way to the hardware store this morning I passed right by...

    Tell me what these are.

That makes sense knowing the owner worked the oil fields. You can see in the picture that the head of the largest one is buggered a little bit by a slipped wrench, something I could see happening during the panic of trying to stop a leak. Thanks twertsy. Anybody want these? I'm guessing USPS...

    Tell me what these are.

No interiors, these are solid through and through. It's strange there are no markings for size or manufacturer either. Interesting idea bluebolt, something I hadn't thought of.

    Tell me what these are.

So the jewelers' mandrels would be a paired set then? The guy that owned them saved everything so I doubt he would have lost one of each size. The crack repair is an interesting theory, what type of industry would that be used in? The po worked in the oil patch but his family history goes back...

    Tell me what these are.

These were in a box of junk someone was getting rid of. The largest one is 2.5" tall at the threads. Diameter of each is 5/8", 3/4", and 1". I'm thinking they're some sort of pipe tool but I've never seen anything like them. The threads are spiral cut, the smallest one a standard 24 tpi but...

Getting compressor air from house to garage...

An 80 gallon compressor isn't the sort of thing someone puts under their jacket and runs off with, you'll lose all your other tools before the compressor goes. What type of compressor? If it's a high-speed HF type you won't want it in the house.

Truckin' Mag Dog Bone Wrench Review

I prefer tools that just do one thing, and do it well.

    My home made butcher block.

I was over at a friend of a friend's house last weekend and the owner was going on and on about the patio cover he built. I started asking some technical questions and it finally came out that he built it with a pen and a checkbook.

    Pawn shop treasure

I've been through a few of the local pawn shops and the prices for used/abused tools are usually more than what I would pay at HD or Lowes. They don't seem to be interested in actually selling anything.

Show me your HF 13 drawer US General

@ joshn569 & Fedwrench, thanks for the compliments. Just wiped it down with 409. No primer, just two coats of black. I got my HF on sale, used a 20% coupon, and sold my old Craftsman set for $175. Upgrading to this set was less than $450 out of pocket. I envy the guys that can throw ten...

Show me your HF 13 drawer US General

Stole the rattle can idea from others on GJ. Thanks to whoever came up with that. Added a grab bar to avoid greasy prints on the lid and used a label maker for the drawers. Added a "Heartbeat of America" theme to break up the expanse of red inside the lid. That's it so far.

    Air Compressor Dryer and Drain

Agreed, that picture seems wrong. I ran the first stage compressed air through an air-to-air cooler with an auto drain. It then goes through the second stage of the compressor and exits to a refrigerated cooler (with auto drain) before entering the tank. The tank has an auto drain as well...
