    Angle grinder suggestions

Metabo. I have a rigid that I bought in 2006 that was Made in Germany. Supposedly by Metabo - that was the discussion at the time on all of the forums. Looks like a Metabo from then, just orange. Try to get one to turn on and compare how smooth they run. Vibration will eventually wear you...

    Kmart sale thread

Kmart is the closest of that kind of store to me - only 1 stoplight and all right hand turns - no major streets. And I'll go in from time to time to get Kmart kind of stuff. Might go up there today and pick up a Craftsman creeper. Always scan their tool section for sales because they give it...

What do you think these trophies are worth?

Thanks for all the ideas. These are painted to indicate the various Cub Scout ranks and the finishing place. I agree that polished steel and brass would command a higher price - something "sweaty and gritty" with a little steam punk thrown in for good measure. Less trophy and more sculpture...

What do you think these trophies are worth?

There are sodium filled valves, that is a fact. I have no idea how to tell the difference. The valves do weld pretty weird, I assumed that was because a lot of them are stainless? Haven't had one explode yet, but I have no idea if any have been filled. I do love the valves though, they...

What do you think these trophies are worth?

Thanks for the positive comments. These are very much a hobby, service project for me. Most of the parents are simply amazed because they have no idea how to even begin something like this. And of course that is the secret, just "begin" doing it. There is about an hour in each so I would...

Bunch Of Gears Turned Into A Coffee Table

If you are going to sell, it has be sold as art. Not an arts and craft project. It's all about how and where it is marketed. I'm guessing the price difference is 10X. Personally, I like it and it looks like something you might see in a car dealership waiting area or a somewhere like Vegas...

What do you think these trophies are worth?

Here's some trophies I made for my son's pinewood derby: Top speed 1-3 19 trophies in all People keep telling me to make and sell them. What do you think? What do you think a group would pay for set? (not necessarily scouts, they are usually broke) Keeping in mind that cost and price...

mcnichols - google that. They sell it and other perf metal. You can probably buy from them, they are a distributor, but I think they will sell to the general public.

My welding cart - all aluminum

Should have my rebate pretty soon. Applied online the day I got the machine. The double tanks dictated the width, so I figured, why not make the cord hang "inside" the frame rather than get stuck on the outside where it would get snagged all the time. Appreciate everyone's comments. So far...

My welding cart - all aluminum

Spoolgun is great. They make better ones, but I don't know the difference. Very happy with the purchase so far. Thanks for the feedback. The cart will get some hooks and whatnot as time goes on.

My welding cart - all aluminum

Picked up a new Millermatic 180 with spoolgun since they were on sale. I have access to aluminum at cost at work, so I had to weld something. Most of the welds aren't pretty, but they started getting better as the project went on. Couple of things I wanted rather than buying and modifying an...

    Extension Cord for Welder

Anything wrong with replacing the standard 6' cord with a longer one? If so, #10 or #8 for a 25' cord? Looked inside my Miller 180 today and its two connectors attached in the right spots... Looks pretty straight forward to me.

Miller Welders 5% or 15% off

The 211 was $200 more at the local shop. Went with the 180, tough call to make - really debated it, figured this was enough and I haven't really pushed my old Hobart 180 to its limits in the 10 years I've had it. Got the welder for $805 and the spoolgun for $211. Splurged and got the Miller...

Miller Welders 5% or 15% off

Miller welding is running a good special through the end of May. 5% off a welder if bought alone. 15% off a welder plus $150 in accessories. I'm picking up a 180 with spoolgun and cover for $1048 plus tax. Less the 15%, I'm at $890 plus tax. That's only $70 more than the equivalent Hobart...

    Kitchen Slide Out Shelves

Lowes has good ones. Installed some wire basket types in my kitchen 3 years ago. $400 versus $1000's for new cabinets.

Home depot: 26in Black 5-drawer cabinet

Thought we'd take a spin around the local HD and see if we could spot any these that we missed. Yep, found the two 5-drawer top boxes we couldn't find last week. Got those for $15 a piece.

Home depot: 26in Black 5-drawer cabinet

Picked up a 6-drawer just today for $35. Inventory showed 2 of the top boxes for $15, but we couldn't find them. Using this one as a clothes dresser in my 8-year old son's room.
